    First briskett

I'll be doing my first brisket this weekend on my new MasterForge vertical propane smoker that I got for Christmas. We'll see how it goes, hopefully its as successful as yours, even though my smoker is on the deck and not the wall! :-)

    Austin Homebrew Closed?

At least they still do fractional pounds with grains. I'm not the point yet where I can store grains long-term, so I only order what I need.

    Mississippi Beer

Thanks! I'm actually going to be between Columbus and Starkville, so West Point won't be that far, it looks like.

    Austin Homebrew Closed?

It's not just you. I had priced a few of their kits and had them in a spreadsheet, and they're all a little more expensive it seems.

    Mississippi Beer

I'll be in the Starkville/Columbus area for work in a couple of weeks. Anything I should be on the look out for to try that I can't get in Texas? TIA

    Dallas Breweries

There are good breweries scattered all over the Metroplex. Dallas area has Community, Lakewood, Deep Elum and Peticolas among others. In the Fort Worth area, there's Rahr, Revolver, and Martin House. Up north you can find several others like Cobra in Lewisville, Rabbit Hole in Justin, and...

    Dry Hopping

I dry hopped in primary for my first IPA, but I'll probably dry hop in secondary for my IIPA that's currently in my primary. I want to brew my Magic Hat #9 clone this weekend, and I need the primary back for that! I only have one 6gal and one 5gal carboy at this time.

    2014 Winter Olympics

Canada was clearly the better team. Absolutely dominated in the offensive zone, and put the clamps down in the defensive zone. That game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates. Should have been about 4 or 5-0, if not for the outstanding play of Jonathan Quick.

    2014 Winter Olympics

Canada is dominating right now. US needs to figure some way to get something going on offense. Quick is keeping them in this. Canada's lone goal came off a faceoff in the American zone after a really iffy icing call, but they've been putting lots of pressure on Quick, so it was only a...

    2014 Winter Olympics

Gonna vent here for a sec... The refs didn't cause the US to lose, they did that all on their own by choking away a 2-goal lead with 3:30 to play, but... The refs in overtime were a disgrace. The slashing call against the US was laughable. Completely obvious attempt to even it back up...

    2014 Winter Olympics

Hopefully the US women get some revenge on the Canadians today in hockey, then the men do the same tomorrow!
