    Joke

Bad jokes HB! :D However nice Avatar. I'm glad the Germans now celebrate St.Georges Day (23/04) too - the Patron Saint of England (who was Greek and never set foot in England).... ;) :D

    CAMRA / "Real" Ale

*Caplan whistles 'Copacabana' by Barry Manilow in a 'you are on hold' style to the 'pure BMC Crowd' chosing to ignore Brewpastors post * Anyway, I only hope you guys that DON'T think BMC is the only thing worth drinking really read and understand Brewpastors post and then read...

What is your favorite intoxicant next to beer?

All of the above apply except Mead - Commercial versions are hard to find in the UK. I drink a lot less spirit now than I used to. My Beer gut is increasing but at least my liver is a bit healthier.....

    CAMRA / "Real" Ale

The way some of you have been posting on here you'd think CAMRA came round and spat in your homebrew!;) CAMRA come across all 'high and mighty beer snobs' (which many of them are i'm sure) but the simple point is without them they'd be a lot less of the simple little British Pubs selling...

    hello from england

Hi kirstess - Welcome aboard the Love Boat! be careful with this one as you've mentioned 'tasting' and 'acquiring a few crown caps' in your post - don't give the game away to your bosses. You should at least attempt to wrestle 8 tonnes of S/S Brewing gear out of the place before they suss you...

    Mead hangover?

That's classic 'dry mead' for you. Sweeter meads tend to help 'hide' those harsh notes behind the extra sugars. I can't remember your recipe but if it included acid to balance you just need to age it more. The one bottled in my sig is a simple mead and won't be opened for another 2 years.

    Mead hangover?

I'd better get some higher class friends - only Deities, Hereditary Monarchs and anyone who's had a folk song written about their deeds need apply.:) My last batch (10% ABV) is bottled in 1.5 Ltr bottles. Maybe I should lower my expectations to avoid a hangover...;)

    Mead hangover?

Cheese, does it taste good in it's still form - i.e. not harsh/you'd want more than 1 glass etc?

    SWMBO of the Year!

I just hope she had the car keys close to open the doors when they got there. His hands were already full ;)

My OG's are always low. What gives?

If it's an extract based kit then Mikey has come closest 1 US Gallon = 3.8 Litres. 5 US Gallons = 19 Litres 1 Imperial Gallon = 4.5 Litres. 5 Imperial Gallons = 23 Litres. So it's roughly 6 US Gallons to 5 Imperial Gallons. Basing DME on a hydrometer reading of roughly 1.040 a...

    Recommend a bottle capper

I've never broken a bottle (yet)! It's not an art of course but i'm used to the 'hammer noises' as the cap closes to take the seal.

    Who's drinken teh homebrew tonite?

Sasquatch???? Get him to post a little more on this site so at least the rumours can continue of his existence. Bless his hairy little body......:D

    Recommend a bottle capper

Not a standard wine container. The glass is too thin. Regards cappers I'm such a Luddite - my capper is a hammer on type that got picked up second hand years ago for next to nothing. The plus points are it's been in use for years and neither it (or the hammer) have broken on me yet!:D

    Glad I could help.....

Breakin' the Law - Alabama Brewster

The use of guitars as guns and the bank clerk's cracked spectacles are a real treat to anyone who hasn't seen it! :D

    Least favorite style?

P Funky mentioned Corona. I'll say 'Sol' as the lamest excuse for a commercial beer i've found - even duller and fizzier than our 'usual targets of derision'. Worst tasting beer I've had recently however was a Kronenbourg 'Blanc'. Good pale colour, nice carbonation, Smelt of citrus -...

Breakin' the Law - Alabama Brewster

Welcome aboard au1991rx! Ignore the :rockin: symbols though - Judas Priest's 'Breakin' the Law' is not only the worst rock song ever but has the most embarrasing video too! :D

Preservation while in secondaries or bottling?

Its sounds odd - CO2 does slow some of my racking but not to the point of stopping it. Are you just using a racking cane and pvc tube?
