parsnip wine- weird effect please help

This is the main bit that concerns me - In the recipes i've know the parsnips are brought up to boil, simmered until soft to extract flavour and natural sugars before the parsnips are disgarded. Only the strained cooled juice is then used straight away. You left the whole parsnips in for four...

    Music and you

And I didn't mention I've recently been listening to a few CD's worth of 'concert performances captured by the audience' from my favorite band of all time.....

    Music and you

I don't think anyone's mentioned these guys before in the music threads on this site (Appologies if someone has!:) ). I've got a fair few of their albums but never seem to find time to listen to them properly.

    Worst Album Covers

You fell for that old trick eh? They really pulled a fast one on you. Did you not get suspicious when Terry was looking through the lens and telling you that you looked real hot but Harry was silent, supended in the air pushing the shutter button with his one tooth?.....

    Worst Album Covers

Devastatin' Dave almost became my avatar a few months back! Hang On! Geraldine and Ricky? When she recorded 'Trees talk too!' do you really thing she bothered to take Ricky to the studio? I mean what would have been the point?;)

Just started second cider (help on OG)

Listen to NurseNan - Spot on sensible advise! :rockin: Then put it under secondary for 3 weeks, and bottle (primed with corn sugar if carbonation required) for 3 months minimum - 6 is better.

    How Old are you?

The smog's long gone but does Barnsley get sunlight now?;)

    How Old are you?

That's because the other kids with any sense became shareholders in 'Bucky' I'd guess!;) I'm twentyish......thirtyish....hmmmm. Okay 35. How did I get so old? Ouch.:D

    Greetings from London...

Welcome aboard! Strangely enough the other night I wondered why we have no one from London on this site, I've done my time there. Stick around, the plus point is we won't charge you £3.50 a pint!:D

    Divorce

Divorced once about 4 years ago. Not nice for me. Cost me about £40000 at the time and i'm still recovering.... Luckily I have compensation in a new SWMBO who's 14 years my junior, Beautiful, long blonde hair, fit toned slim body and firey as f*ck. Gorgeous....and she (almost) puts up with me...

Rack cider after 2 weeks in primary?

My bad old boy, I misread your post about time in secondary! :o Definately give it 3 weeks in secondary however after just 3 weeks in bottles your cider will be pretty raw, better if you can leave it for 3 months before trying it.

    Do you have a beard?

Beards are worn by fifth columnists, pirates and other 'unsavory types'.....;) I'm clean shaven usually but often have stubble - no more than three days worth or I look way too old..... When I was younger I used to be in a job that (quoting the company regulations) 'if you wish to grow a...

Rack cider after 2 weeks in primary?

Put your cider in secondary for a few weeks at least - not days. Then bottle and age it for a few months. It'll taste much better that way.

    Brewing equipment in Europe

Don't buy your brew pot/burner/wort chiller from a HBS store - You'll pay through the nose. Source a local catering equipment supplier for the biggest stock pot you can afford - www.pots-and-pans.co.uk have a decent priced range of catering S/S ones if you find you still need to shop online...

culturing yeast from a bottle conditioned beer?

Not a Belgian I know but I'm trying an experiment with a commercial brand of 'unfiltered, unpasturized hefeweissen' to see if it really can work. 1 Litre of boiled, cooled light DME in a sanitized 2 litre glass jug, the dregs of a couple of bottles - after 5 days of no real yeast action I came...

    HomeBrewTalk.com T-Shirt

Sudster's V#2 seems to have everyone's vote (including mine) so far but Ian's new logo is great and i'm now swayed between the two!:D

Not really a label.. how about a shirt?

True to form as usual cheese.....;) Back on topic - Nice T-Shirt aekdbbop! Did you do the logo yourself?

Low OG, High FG. Stuck or am I just impatient?

Picker77, The 1010-1014 FG they quote is only a rough guide and you're there really with only being 2 points out, no need to pitch more yeast. A hydrometer is a great tool but don't think you have to be a slave to it with beer. Just give it the usual 7 days in primary and then rack it to...

    Dry malt extract or sugar?

Corn sugar/malt extract combinations will give you the ABV but not the 'body' you'd get from using just malt extract. Definately swap the corn sugar for DME/LME and just use it for priming if you plan to bottle condition your beer.
