    Dammit!!

    First time that happened... Was raising the basket on my eBIAB rig, felt heavier... but I thought it was just the excess water from the mash since I used a new mill. After a min i smelled something burning??? looked in and saw the element sticking up!! the basket L had caught and pulled it up...

    Grind = Crazy Efficiency

    Well , before I got the mill i've never had one after 20 something batches. But the first one I ground a bit too fine, almost flour, and it def plugged up the basket... I stirred in some rice hulls and that helped. After that ive back off a bit on the gap and now its perfect. I get 85+ eff where...

    Grind = Crazy Efficiency

    I have to agree on a new mill. I do eBIAB and WOW... i had horrible eff before... now high 80s, one thing I learned is now you WILL get stuck mashes without either rice hulls or increasing the gap a bit... i started at 20 which was a bit too low... now at 25 much better...

    P**SED OFF with Local HBS

    I went from always hitting or exceeding my numbers to never meeting them after i got my Colorado Brew Systems unit. I just got a grain mill and am going to crush it pretty fine. I did fix the mesh basket issue, and that did help some as well...

    Blichmann Fermentator

    I bought a used one here a couple years ago. It was clean when I got it. I used it probably 8 times before i decided to break everything down. it was perfectly clean inside... I expected a little something. But then I am pretty good about cleaning it as soon as i am done using it...

    Brew Rig - HP Moore Brewing Co

    Can you tell me more about your CIP? how do you get the leftovers out of the kettle when you are done? how do you clean the SS filter on the right? I have something similar but it seems I have to break everything down to get it all clean... esp the SS filter.

    CIP system help/thoughts/opinions....

    Good Morning. I have a self built eBIAB rig. I usually do 10 gal batches, sometimes 5. One pump, and a SS filter before my plate chiller. Right now all the components are loose so I can take everything apart and clean it. I am wondering, is there a better more efficient way to clean everything...

    Mild Steel vs Stainless Steel

    I would pretty much agree 100%. I used to stick/oxy weld fairly well 20 years ago... TIG to me seems a bit easier... less heat/splatter... watching youtube videos helped a lot to know how to hold the torch etc... I agree someone to give you live feedback would be super helpful...I thought i...

    Mild Steel vs Stainless Steel

    I will say welding SS is MUCH harder than carbon steel. I have to weld some SS thin sheeting to my BIAB basket with mesh sides, was killing my efficiency, and it was quite difficult to get a good puddle without blowing through it. I thought it was just me so i grabbed some box cutter blades...

    Solid vs Mesh sided Biabasket

    I'd have to search it... it was 24 x48...took to work to cut in half...Will TIG it together and to basket...need a smaller tungsten to weld it.

    Solid vs Mesh sided Biabasket

    I bought some 26 gauge SS 304 on Ebay for 35 bucks... cheapest I could find... about .018 thick

    Solid vs Mesh sided Biabasket

    I have a meshed basket bottom and sides from CBS. HATE IT... its just KILLS my efficiency, i bought some cheap SS and will TIG the sides closed. I am sure that wort is just flowing around the basket and not through it. I bought the SS manifold with 4 arms, didnt help much, i think because it...

    If it's a liquid extract kit and you added proper amount of water gravity should be good.

    Sous Vide, why did i wait to try this???

    Yeah it does seem that way, but after you brown it up, you honestly cant tell the difference... one trick I learned was to use a bit of smoked salt. the main think i like is that its repeatable every single time. there is NO chance of over cooking anything. Now I wouldnt cook everything in...
