PH Drop with new RO system

Ok, so I just installed a new RO system and before I was getting RO water from the store. I brewed a beer on Friday with my RO water and my PH was .5 lower than Bru'n Water calculated so this puzzled me enough to brew another beer today and see if the same thing would happen and sure enough it...

No more RO water, what to use now

You can always remove the DI part of that system as it is not needed for brewing and then you don't have to be a slave to changing out the DI.

No more RO water, what to use now

How did the cost to make your own compare to just buying one? I originally looked into just purchasing all the components too and the cost was almost the same as just buying the system not to mention I would have had to put it all together.

Don't do that you will burn out the solenoid valve on the fridge, ask me how I know that...

No more RO water, what to use now

Funny story, one time I was at our local Piggly Wiggly filling up my 5 gal jug with RO water and this guy with some sort a mental disability comes over to watch me fill my jug and he ask a few of the usual questions and then he ask me if he can take a drink from the stream. I told him the store...

No more RO water, what to use now

That is the same issue I ran into. I have been thinking about an RO system for a long time and this finally pushed me to pull the trigger and buy a Buckeye RO system. There are delivery options but they will cost you. What is your water like out of your tap?

    RO Faucet

I contacted the maker of the faucet and the actual output diameter of the faucet is 5/16 so still not the worst and better than the standard 1/4"

    RO Faucet

Yes, the RO system will have a 14 gallon RO Pressure tank. I just ordered all the stuff so I have nothing in hand yet to verify anything.

    RO Faucet

Well, I found one that is for 3/8 in case anyone else runs into wanting 3/8". Almost double the cost of most others but I guess you get what you pay for. "Avanti Designer Kitchen Bar Sink Reverse Osmosis RO Filtration Drinking Water Faucet for 3/8" supply tube - NSF certified, ceramic disk...

    RO Faucet

I am going to purchase a RO Faucet and I will have 3/8" lines to the faucet. It looks like most of the RO faucets use 1/4 in and comes with a 3/8 adapter. My question is there any faucets that actually output for 3/8? What I mean is even if I attach a 3/4" line it is still restricted to the 1/4...

RO water not exactly at 0 ppm

So I am guessing then I should not even use a standard faucet unless it is all stainless?

RO water not exactly at 0 ppm

In regards to the corrosive tendencies of RO water do they then recommend not to run it thru copper pipe? I was going to just T into the existing line to my fridge and one faucet upstairs and just shut off the feed downstream. The RO system I ordered does not have the DI on it BTW. I am setting...

RO water not exactly at 0 ppm

I plan to buy an RO system really soon just waiting to see what my employers next move is tomorrow with layoffs. My well water is at 405 so if I can get down to those numbers I will be very happy. I can't even go to the store and get RO from the dispensers anymore as they shut them down.

    Distilled or RO

I use well water ran thru a water softener and it works well. My water softener went out once and the way I found out was the star san will turn the water milky if the water is not soft.

    Maple Sap Profile

I had hoped that the sap would have more flavor than it does so yes I don't think it will add much flavor to the beer but I am guessing it will still make a good beer so it won't be for nothing. All I had to do was drill a couple of holes in some trees and attach a hose to a bucket so not much...

    Maple Sap Profile

So I have tapped a couple of maple trees and plan to use the sap in place of all the water for mashing and sparge. I did some googling around and I came up with an average mineral profile of the sap to be around Ca 41 Mg 7 Na 35 S04 5 Cl 90 HCO3 140 The PH was 6.14 and the OG was 1.008. I...

How many here have the opportunity to help brew at a commercial brewery?

If you look at the pic of me pouring in the grain you will see how small the shoot is. It was crazy pouring bag after bag into that small hole.

How many here have the opportunity to help brew at a commercial brewery?

Yes I have done it twice. Once at Lions Tail brewery (Festbier) in Neenah WI and the other at McFleshman's brewery (Carpe Diem Belgian Pale Ale) in Appleton WI. The one at Lions Tail was on a full 10 barrel system and the biggest eye opener for me was the amount of grain used. The one at...

Will it mash at pH ~5.00?

Crazy, I always check at room temp and shot for the recommended range in BrunWater. I wonder if mabrungard would care to chime in on this?
