Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Here is what I came up with for switching between co2 and o2.

    Kegco Mill?

Has anyone modified the aluminum casing over the rollers to allow gap adjustments without taking it apart? I'm thinking that a small cut in the aluminum would allow passing a feeler gauge through. Any thoughts?

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I am using regular vinyl tubing off the coil barbs with ball lock disconnects on the ends. If am going to snap those onto ball lock connection posts on a washing machine valve box on the wall with the chiller behind the wall feeding the box. Easily removed to wheel to my kettles then.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I asked on the SSBrewtech Facebook page why they raised the price. They never responded and they deleted my post.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

They should have made the 7 gallon 799 and the 14 left at 999. If got mine for 999 and while it's nice, it is not worth 1100 without accessories

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I just posted that question to their Facebook page. I don't see any changes so it's likely just they wanted to make more money and figured people would pay, especially with the holidays almost here. I was considering a second down the road, not a chance at that price though.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I mean the physical connection on the carb stone. Are you just pushing on tubing and then pulling it off? Or did you rig up a way to quickly disconnect it and ensure no co2 leaks

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

How are people switching between oxygen and co2 with the diffusion stone? Just disconnecting the hose from the barb each time or change out the fitting? Personally, I'm tempted to remove the barb from the mini ball valve and try to fit a ball lock post to the valve if I can figure out how.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I thought it was a preference.

I must be missing it, but 700 for a big freezer that you still have too lift the conical into. I just built a glycol ac unit system for 50 bucks. Works perfectly, I can disconnect the conical and wheel it to the the boil kettle to fill. Cost aside, less space required and no lifting.

Haha, go figure my 14 shipped yesterday. Still probably would have gone with the 14 gallon personally though. I appreciate the ability to do 5 and 10 gallon batches. Never make less than 5 anyway.

    Maelstrom Stir Plate Vibration

Mine works great, you will never need full speed. Just used it last week. Try it with a flask of water and see how it does.

Help me decide between Spike CF10 and SSBrewtech Unitank

I'm building the chiller from a window ac unit and probably about a 5 gallon reservoir. The ac unit is a 5000 btu model. I have no real world experience with glycol so I have no idea how much cooling capacity and recovery this sort of system will have.

Help me decide between Spike CF10 and SSBrewtech Unitank

So it sounds like if I transfered piping hot from the boil kettle to the conical then open the blow off valve or apply a few psi of co2 and use tap water to cool to about 100 then connect to the glycol for final cooling I could avoid a trip through the plate chiller. I see this as a benefit...

Help me decide between Spike CF10 and SSBrewtech Unitank

I'm wondering if I could transfer directly from the boil kettle while near boiling temps to the unitank then chill with the ftss system coil and my glycol reservoir. Anyone try or know of a reason not to? Seems like a good way to sterilize the fermenter by closing it up and letting it sit for...

Help me decide between Spike CF10 and SSBrewtech Unitank

I've decided on the SSBrewtech. I like that the lid doesn't need the band clamp as that seems like a failure point and bacteria harboring area. I also like that it is cheaper when you consider the accessories to make the spike the same. I really doubt that a 2" bottom dump matters much when...

Help me decide between Spike CF10 and SSBrewtech Unitank

Spike seems more expensive after the you factor in the missing accessories. Although I do like that it is welded in WI.
