    Attempting Red Rocket clone

I figured it out. Beersmith defaulted a February date for the yeast. If I change it to July date then I only need one packet and a 4qt starter.

    Attempting Red Rocket clone

I'm new to all grain but that seems like a lot for a 5 gal batch.

    Attempting Red Rocket clone

I'm looking at doing a Red Rocket Clone (Jamil's recipe) Beersmith is telling me that I need 3 packages of liquid yeast with a starter or 9 without. Am I doing something wrong here? Recipe: Red Rocket Ale TYPE: All Grain Style: Specialty Beer ---RECIPE...

    Thoughts on this for fermentation?

I like how the Vittle Vaults or Seed Vaults have a large opening. Much easier cleaning.

    Thoughts on this for fermentation?

#1 is PET and usually clear. These would probably be #2 HDPE.

    Thoughts on this for fermentation?

I do 5 Gal batches for now. The birdseed vaults may be a good alternative. They have 6.6 Gal version 13.25"H x 12"W x 12"D

    Thoughts on this for fermentation?

Thanks Revvy. This was at Costco but I'll look into them further. My 6.5 gallon carboy seems like an inefficient use of space. I have a mini fridge but want to get something bigger for multiple fermentations at one time. Rectangle fermenters seem like the way to go.

    Thoughts on this for fermentation?

It says food grade, it's 16 gallons and has an O-ring top. I like that it's not round so it maximizes space usage. $24.00

Trying my first All Grain today...

OK so I was low on my OG. Target was 1.051 but I was at 1.045. Also my yeast exploded when I opened the bottle. I'm not sure how much I lost, hopefully it won't be an issue though.

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

2 but the second one is the one that annoys me. I ordered it from Austin Brew Supply and when I took it out of the box my order came in it fell out of the bubble wrapped tube onto my floor and exploded... Note to ABS, it turns out that when you bubble wrap the tube you should also tape the ends...

    Is secondary ferm needed?

I've read that thread and a few others. If you read it you'll know why Revvy is a bit touchy about this. He is a proponent of the single fermentation, has great luck with it and has gone round and round and round and round with people that say it's bad. Just think of this as his button. I'm sure...
