    Maris Otter SMaSH

    1 gal MO/centennial, 1 gal MO/Whitbread?

    Maris Otter SMaSH

Going to have 4# Maris Otter left after my English Braggot recipe is brewed. Decided I'd like to do a 1 gallon or 3 gallon SMaSH. I have these hops: 4oz Centennial (12%) 1.5oz Whitbread Goldings (4.3%) 1oz Sterling (6%) .75oz Liberty (4.3%) I'm not looking for a crazy bitter IPA, but I would...

Looking for Feedback - Smoked Maple Bacon Braggot (GotMead Experiment)

This has been in secondary since it reached terminal. Still waiting on the bacon extract to arrive.

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

Starting 2nd batch end of February/beginning of March. The first batch is turning into a fantastic dessert wine. Very happy with it. Just siphoned a pint off of the top of the yeast slurry that I had in the fridge. Even sitting on yeast and lees it is amazing.

English Braggot (as seen on AHA)

The Szechuan hibiscus turned out really well. I'm not sure it even lasted 6 months though. I think next time I make it, I will up the honey to what you originally posted and maybe bottle it still instead of carbed. I liked it when it was young, my dad liked it better than I as it aged.

English Braggot (as seen on AHA)

Also about to start a 1gal Bochet Braggot tonight with EKG to see how it turns out.

English Braggot (as seen on AHA)

Yes, I have made quite a few. One was the Szechuan hibiscus braggot that you helped create lol. I thought it was a very odd recipe myself, especially coming from the AHA website. I was always under the impression that a braggot was at least 50% honey. I changed the hop schedule because of the...

English Braggot (as seen on AHA)

So I found an English Braggot recipe in the mead section of the AHA website. Not sure why it was in the mead section as this recipe is really more of a big beer than a braggot. Only uses 2# of honey, whereas a braggot should be at least 50% honey. Which is why I posted this in the beer section...

    Riesling Pyment

How did this turn out for you? I am hoping to go pick up 5 gallons of fresh Riesling juice and want to use it in a pyment.

    Maple mead

Added the centennial hops to see how they played with the black raspberry. That and I was making a lot of hopped ciders and meads at the time. Just to lower the OG. Wasn't looking for anything strong. Personal preference really.

    Maple mead

My first acerglyn experience was using white clover honey and Grade B maple syrup that we make ourselves. Got a half gallon of water boiling, turned the burner off and added the honey, fresh black raspberry juice and centennial hops. Let sit for about 20 minutes. Strained hops. Added the maple...

    Maple mead

Agreed fuelish. I've heard the terms "maple wine" and "acer". To be a true acerglyn definitely needs honey.

    Maple mead

Haven't tried a pure acer yet, but I made a black raspberry acerglyn (75% maple, 25% honey) that took about 1.5 years to get awesome. Getting ready to do another batch this weekend so that I can send some out to competitions next year.

Sharper Image 1gallon Pale Ale kit hops?

Really what? I didn't expect good beer. Which is why I was trying to build on the recipe. Which turned out great after i added some leftovers by the way. Every now and then I just get ahold of a cheapy kit and aim to improve. Hell, I even improve on Brewer's Best kits when I get them.

Sharper Image 1gallon Pale Ale kit hops?

I ended up adding a bunch of leftovers to this one. Added honey malt and crystal rye and I think some more hops but I honestly don't remember without looking at my notes. The yeast that came with the kit was garbage and never started so I threw some other yeast at it after a couple days. It's...

Looking for Feedback - Smoked Maple Bacon Braggot (GotMead Experiment)

Thanks! Finally got this started this afternoon. Unfortunately still not done yet. I really need to get a bigger kettle. I upgraded to a big cooler for mashing, added almost double the water because I saw 22# of fermentables with the honey added so I mashed for 21.25# instead of 12.25# at 1qt/#...

How Many Gallons of Mead 2015 Edition!

Sharper Image 1gallon Pale Ale kit hops?

OK so usually when I relative buys me a cheapy AG kit, I usually find out what's in it and build on it to make a better brew. I can't find a damn bit of info on the yeast or hops. Anyone have an idea? I assume a US-05 strain but can't put my finger on the hops. Looks like about 1/4oz or maybe...

    Experimental Beer hard root BEER!

You used dark? How much root beer extract did you have to use? I only used Amber dme and I had to use 2 bottles of flavoring. I would cut back to 1 bottle next time I make it though. Was great for about a month. After that it just got too extract chemical-y.
