Good Morning Magpie (Mulberry Mead w/ Coffee)

IMO, beans have a more delicate flavor and take longer to infuse but may taste better. If you were to break open or coarse grind 8oz and cold or hot steep them, the flavor would infuse stronger, faster. Most mead makers that I know prefer whole beans but they do take longer to infuse. In fact...

Good Morning Magpie (Mulberry Mead w/ Coffee)

Cold extraction. I get fresh ground coffee and steep it in cold water in the fridge for 24-48 hours. Then filter out the grounds. Then i just add the extraction. Can be done at room temp too. How long did you dry hop for? 8 oz of beans isn't very much.

    Bray's One Month Mead

If you look in the mead recipes section, I believe there is a recipe named Good Morning Magpie that is what you are looking for from New Days. Edit: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=463377

    Hop-Head Mead

Have my own version of this that is waiting to be kegged. Only boiled a small portion of the honey to let some of the mead characteristics shine through. Did a boil with 1oz Centennial for bittering, 1.5oz centennial and 1 oz cascade for aroma, and 2oz each of Simcoe, Amarillo, and Rakau dry...

Training Wheels Berliner - good intro to sours

Have you tried giving L. Plantarum specific probiotics a shot? A lot of the guys at Milk the Funk are using GoodBelly probiotics drink with a lot of success. Works great for souring and it's just Lactobacillus plantarum.

Absolutely, I used 05 on mine. Really 001 and 05 are the same yeast I believe.

How Many Gallons of Mead 2016!

Looks like I never added my Very Berry Melomel to 2015's thread, pitched in '15, bottled in '16, so I'll add that now too +5.5 = 550

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

This is my 2nd gen bochet. Straight bochet, and instead of fermenting WITH cider, going to backsweeten it with cider instead. Not a fan of this generation. Tastes ok, but the aroma is of bananas foster. Going to top up whatever needs topping on my first gen next weekend, and then rack 1 gallon...

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

My first generation bochet cyser is phenomenal, really wishing I had made a 5 or 6 gallon batch instead of a 3 gallon. Probably going to bottle it up in 12oz bottles to ship to a few bigger comps as I feel it's one of the best meads I have ever made. Going to bottle up half of it next weekend...

Lactomel Group Brew Project - 19/20th March 2016

Interesting group brew. Is any flavor from the milk still present when it's done?

    12 Beers Of Christmas 2016!

I think maybe I should just pass on this one for this year. Not sure I can time it out just right. I may try starting a batch in August though to try it out. I have access to a few wild crabs that are very similar to dolgo crabs so I make cider with them in the fall. Might have to start a batch...

    12 Beers Of Christmas 2016!

Is the AHA version of Lambicky the exact same as the book? I'd probably try to get it started in the next couple weeks to give it some time to do its thing and then just drop some crabs in it in mid-late September. AHA suggest 2 months on fruit but it also only suggests 1 month with a Belgian...

Bochet GROUP BREW - Solera Style

Finally getting around to starting my 2nd gen. Tasted the 1st one (bochet cyser) again a few days ago and it's one of the best meads I've ever made. Can't wait to get it bottled.

    Local Only Trade (LOT)

Glad to see they made it. Don't worry about me, just felt terrible that it took me so long. Like I said I'll jump back in at a later date. Planting season was ridiculously non-stop this year, still have a week left til we have everything planted but it finally slowed down. Sorry to everyone on...

    Craft Beer MAW(Easy Version)

Hey guys, just want to apologize to everyone, especially @abeasst for the delay on my end. I should have known better than to attempt a couple trades just as planting season started to take off. I do still have a package for @abeasst but have not gotten it out the door yet. Plan to print out new...
