Why does my hombrew make my stomach upset?

I hear that! Wow, we are having roughly the same type of weather up here as you guys, not extremely cold, but not warm either. I have a keggerator that I will put it in. 24 hours sounds good. I guess I have been rushing the beer through the process, I need to slow down and give it more time.

so what's the worst part of brewing for you

I can help with that! Unfortunately I am in Alaska, but if you ever want to swap some beers let me know.

Why does my hombrew make my stomach upset?

Thanks Johnny, I will start letting it sit for longer. I had read many posts where people said to keg after about ten days and that is why I have been doing it. How long would you cold crash the beer for? A week?

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Thanks guys, you answered my questions. Where can I find the hops used in this beer? I am definitely making this beer many times in the future, so if I can get the ingredients I will stock up on them. You can't buy these hops in Alaska. Is it too late to add the limeade? I also can't find it up...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I made this recipe and it has been in the primary for 8 days. Should I put the limeade in the primary or secondary? Also, I could not find those hops so I use an equal amount of halertauer hops instead. Hope it comes out good. I will try to find those hops and will likely make another batch.

Why does my hombrew make my stomach upset?

It is possible that I am not fermenting long enough, however, I thought once the hydro reading stays the same for three days in a row, it would be ready to rack off to secondary. I guess it normally takes about 7 days in primary and another 7 days in secondary. Then keg. Shortening the dip tube...

so what's the worst part of brewing for you

I agree with the cleaning! It seems that you spend more time cleaning than you do brewing. I have to clean up a carboy right now so I can rack off my primary. Lemon lime Heffe. Oh yeah and clean the theif and auto siphon and hydrometer. And an airlock. Whew, then I can have a beer.

Why does my hombrew make my stomach upset?

Thanks man, I am kegging my beer and since the dip tube draws from the bottom any yeast in the keg is going to get sucked up. I guess the only way to prevent that would be to cold crash in the carboy. Just stick it in the kegerator I guess, until it clears up. Should I filter the beer before...

so what's the worst part of brewing for you

This happened last night to me. I had some people over for the first tap of a raspberry wheat. It was really good but only lasted for about 4 hours. Then pooooooooooo! I heard it from outside. Then someone said " there goes the beer"

Why does my hombrew make my stomach upset?

I will have to start cold crashing. Great idea, how long do you chill for, what temp? I assume this is done a day or so before racking off to the keg?

Why does my hombrew make my stomach upset?

I have drank two batches of brew so far and both times I have had extreme diarrhea. Is it the yeast? Do I need to filter the beer before kegging it? Anyone else have this happen to them?

    First Brew

Try making a Heffe. Only takes a few things and is easy to make. Tastes great too. I like to add an ounce of sweet orange peel with 10 minutes left in the boil.

    What are you drinking now?

    Here is the finished product.

    What are you drinking now?

" not just for chicks raspberry wheat" just got done tonight. It is great, not as much raspberry as I was hoping to taste,

Steeping grains = Better extract beer?

I agree with everyone so far. This is the most interesting hobby I have ever gotten into. So many possibilities. I have tried AE and it was ok, but if you add grains it makes an entirely different taste, look, and feel to the brew. I like adding grains and think that you have to steep grains to...

    2nd batch!

    2nd batch!

I just took my first drink of my second batch, a raspberry wheat beer, and it is great! It has a great smell with a faint raspberry nose to it. The taste has slight notes of banana and clove with a slight berry taste. The hops are there, but not overpowering and it has a little bit of bitterness...

Brewing a 1.072 beer without aeration system

I agree, I normally pour form one container to another about three times, while pouring as high above the container as possible to create a lot of aeration. It's super foamy when I'm done. Works great.

    Devil bacteria in Corny kegs

Speaking of the sulfer/sweet taste, that may be because the pitching temp is too high. It lowers the amount of yeast cells from developing and start to cause the cells to produce a lot of waste that cannot be eaten up later in the conditioning phase because they spent too much time early in the...

Adding more yeast, yea or nay

Probably ready now. Don't think the gravity will go down anymore than that. Should probably let it condition in the bottle for a couple weeks. Try one after a week just to see how it tastes. I bet it will be good. Might want to add the correct amount of sugar to the batch before bottling. It...
