Non Beer Options To Put On Tap

I keep a keg of soda water with lemon oil in it on tap. Pretty tasty. For parties, I've done margarita on tap and it turned out pretty well.

Top It Off With Tomato Juice

I like them. I think you'd be better off making it "to order", since that would make clean up easier. Cleaning the kegs and the lines after having that in it, could be a pain. I put a little maggi sauce in mine and top it off with camaronazo picante. If you can find it, I prefer that to clamato.

Any must-visit new breweries in San Diego area?

Bootlegger's was a good time when I was there last.

    Sanke, don't cut top off

Skipping the why portion... I've never done it to a keg, but I've put bulkhead style fittings on plastic close top drums using a long metal rod with a bend in it, a socket, and some duct tape. It works on a plastic drum kept at room temperature, but I don't know about a steel keg you'd want to...

    automatic deculmer?

When I did big malt batches, I had a frame made from 2"x6"s that was maybe 2ft wide by 6ft long with shade screen stapled to the bottom of the frame. I'd set that up on some saw horses and then I would lay the malt inside the frame. I did probably 20 to 30 pounds at a time, and I would blast a...

Home brewing with home-malted barley without shaking out the chits?

I forgot to mention, one of the easiest way I found to separate everything was to dump the grain from one bucket to another from a slight height in front of a blowing fan. The grain should fall into the bucket but everything else flies away. It will make a mess though, so do it outside.

Home brewing with home-malted barley without shaking out the chits?

In cases where I failed to remove all the chaff from the malt, I usually noticed a grassy off flavor and aroma that was persistent and fairly off putting.

A whole new breed of beer festival

Very cool. You're right about having very Homebrew friendly laws. Sounds like it should be a good event.

A whole new breed of beer festival

Yeah, there used to be one in AZ that was set up the same way. Went on for a couple years but has since stopped. The organizers were the same way, knew it was illegal but just hoped that no one would enforce it. When their legit business got bigger, I think they stopped taking the risk.

A whole new breed of beer festival

Section 4 of the above would make it sound like you could only pour commercial beer if you were able to obtain a permit. Hopefully, they have already reached out to the city or state and worked all this out. It's an interesting idea as long as all the legal issues are taken care of.

12 Beers of Christmas 2018 Edition

I was thinking about jumping into either a FotD or related trade group at some point next year. Anyone from group 2 willing to give me an itrader plug? Going to do a big testing session on New year's Eve. I'll let you know my thoughts. If I can remember them....
