Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

5 Days in to cold conditioning in the fridge, I cracked one open. Not the worst beer I've had but, There was some sugar remaining in the bottom of the bottle. Taste confirmed it was sugar. The beer was carbonated. I was careful on putting the sugar that was called for...

    mr.beer EXPLOSION!

Isn't drinking soda while reading HBT almost as sinful as admitting on HBT; that you dumped beer? ;)

What next? Or what's a newbie do after MRB?

Just asking for shipping quotes on extract kits from a few suppliers, the average seems to be about $14-15 bucks. :( One said they could ship it media mail for $11, I'm thinking that's pushing the USPS regulations a little far. Don't mean to sound cheap, but another expensive hobby...

What next? Or what's a newbie do after MRB?

Hey everyone, 1st batch in cold conditioning. 2nd batch 2 weeks in to fermentation. I've got a few more MRB refill kits to do, but then I'm pretty sure I'm ready to progress to the next level. So what am I progressing to? Here's the equipment I've gotten together after only...

Anheuser Busch and their deceptive marketing

Wait just a minute, you're telling me I wasn't safe in elementary school hiding under my desk as a protective measure from a rusky nuclear blast? Where's the beer? My whole life is based on a lie.

Anheuser Busch and their deceptive marketing

I guess if one wanted to be really arguementative, one could say clone kits "hurt" the craft brew industry too, right?

Anheuser Busch and their deceptive marketing

I agree with the OP, AB is evil. There's something about their beers that give me a headache. :drunk: The best thing about being an American consumer, is you have a choice. Best thing about being an American beer consumer, is we have lots of choices. If you don't like a product...

    I don't like homebrew

I knew a rich guy that put Carlo Rossi in a decanter and served it to his rich friends. The rich friends would rave about it, not knowing the difference between a $300 bottle of wine and a $6 a gallon jug of wine when served from a decanter. ;)

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Guys, Tuesday I'll be @ two weeks in. I'm starting to think about the next steps, which has led to a question. Priming sugar. If I sanitize everything, funnel, measing spoon, etc....., the sugar is going to stick to those items. Right? Is this going to be a problem getting the right...

Newbie question, Beer equipment for wine & vice versa?

Thank you very much guys!!!! Kinda suspected plastics might tend to hold some flavoring. I'll go the dedicated fermentor route. Again, thanks! Ken

Newbie question, Beer equipment for wine & vice versa?

In the search of HBT, the only thing I saw was the chance for off flavoring. I'd like to brew beer in the winter, then use the same equipment in the summer for the wild berries and other "wild" things available locally to make wine with. Thanks! Ken

Newbie question, Beer equipment for wine & vice versa?

Guys, Sorry for the stupid newbie question, but............... I searched HBT and didn't find a "real" definitive answer to the question. Can I use my wine making equipment for beer and wine? Thanks! Ken

Thanks for the advice. I guess I overtightened it. I re-read the directions after the fact, and couldn't come up with anywhere I strayed. Exchanged them out today at the store. Will get the next batch going tomorrow. I'll follow your advice. :mug: Thanks! Ken

I lost it. :( There was a crack, or weak spot that cracked in the Mr. Beer fermentor that showed itself as soon as the fermentation "took off" today. Caused by pressure???????? That's the only thing I can think of. It didn't leak yesterday. It wasn't leaking this morning or early...

Hello guys, First batch started yesterday. :ban: Foaming like mad today. Too bad it's the light beer version (it's what the kit came with). Can't wait to try it. Ken
