What would you do? Going Pro.

Depnds on you're situation and what you want to accomplish in life. I'm 35 with a kid, 2 car payments, and a mortgage. All of which are more important than brewing to me. My wife is all for me following my passion but the numbers don't work out. If it were a breif stepping stone or there was...

My attempt at a 20 gallon, future-prrof system with stout tanks

Funny- I just saw this thread today and got my 20 gl Stout Tanks in over the weekend. I'm following this thread. My system is going to be pretty similar to this one. Congrats on the conical! . I wish I could offer advice but I'll be watching what you do on this one because I had everything else...

    Vanilla porter

Once fermentaion is done, split a fresh vanilla bean down the center and drop it in the fermenter. Taste after 3 days- if it's where you like- package and you're set. I'll brew a porter and drop one in after week 1 (typically fermentation is done at this point, if not I wait) and package after...

My first "good" homebrew + a general question

I wouldn't go nuts buying every style glass out there. Figure out what you like to drink and brew most and get a glass that suits it. Also, they break so don't get too attached :drunk: Who knows- try a different glass and if you still like bottles- drink bottles. No one should judge you-...

My first "good" homebrew + a general question

Look out behind you! Lame joke- sorry. Couldn't resist with the reflection... I would guess it is based off of the glassware used. I've had an IPA out of a pint glass and out of a tulip glass- same beer, vastly different nose and taste. Also could be residue from the soap used to clean the...

    Sick of shipping time.

It was 1965 Gretsch hollow body bass. Had sone grounding issues and a brace was loose but overall fine. Neck wasn't broke

    Sick of shipping time.

That's not good. If they don't show it as shipped you could contact Bargain Fittings. Mayb its back ordered do to the holidays- thats me speculating. If USPS picked it up, it wouldn't hurt to call them on it. The person I talked to was friendly and pretty knowledgable. She said to never use...

    Sick of shipping time.

Which USPS option was the package shipped under? I had a very bad experience ordering from Ebay. I bought a vintage guitar and there was no option for shipping. It came USPS and the seller received an 'estimate' of 2-8 days. Turns out the seller used teh cheapest USPS option- I think standard...

Cal Clone -- By the worlds least handy man

I'll be starting my Kal clone build as soon as I get the money for the kit. Currently I blew everything on 20 gl Stout Tanks. Keep us posted on how the wiring goes. I was more worrid about the drilling than the wiring and I'd say you are slightly more handy than I since you owned more tools than...

Do u think stone is a top 5 brewery in the U.S.?

I don't think Greg is full of himself. We met him at a local beer bar. They had sanctioned him off in the back room and we were already hanging out back there. He was very humble and when I asked to take a pic with him, instead of finding someone to take it, he grabbed my phone and said pose...

One more guy going pro - Man Skirt Brewing

Who did you contact for your equipment? I am putting together a business plan currently and would love to know who you contacted. Some of the companies out west have told me they are 6 months behind. Was that your experience?

    Beer Fest Suggestion

FWIW add Uncommon- I didn't know they made it over that far. They are local for me and they are interesting if nothing else. Plus the dudes are pretty cool. They had a bacon brown that was much more successful than Rogue's VooDoo Doughnut bacon maple beer. I still don't like bacon beers but of...

    swapped hops

Not at all- I've switched hops on IPA's accidentally and it turned out fine. In your particular case the AA's are so similar that I doubt you'll notice a difference in bitterness. IIRC Fuggles is a bit more earthy in flavor than the willamette.

    Speidel Plastic Tanks

Yup- 9 gallons will fit but you'll need a blow off tube. I marked mine

    Speidel Plastic Tanks

Here is a breakdown of the 30L. Looks like we can do 8 gl pretty comfortably in these. To bad I don't do 8 gl batches... I'll be doing an IIPA tomorrow so 5 gl is perfect with all of the extra hop additions and a high OG

    Speidel Plastic Tanks

I tried it both ways. Seemed to fit better upside down but I'll try flipping it again I haven't bottled my brew yet but when I do, I am going to mark the gallon lines and that should tell us how much you can scale the recipes to if no one chimes in. Steve
