Diagram for BCS 462 with motorized valves

Yeah, it's that "blowing up" part that keeps me drawing instead of building!! ;)

Diagram for BCS 462 with motorized valves

I've been struggling with the various wiring diagrams provided by KLD for their motorized valves. I have 7 of their 3-way KLD20S valves with the BD3 wiring option. I'm wanting to control them through the BCS-462. I think I have the THEORY figured out to about the 80% level of confidence, but I...

Diagram for BCS 462 with motorized valves

...and bumped again. I'm in the same position, and am havnig some trouble figuring out the BCS -> 5VDC relay board -> 12VDC transformer -> motorized valve wiring.

    Automated HERMS system

I like those temperature controlled fermentation chambers (refrigerators), What make and model are those, and are those 14.5-gallon conicals? Thanks, Michael

    BCS 462 , 4 element, 3 pump, 2 x 50amp circuits

I second JonW's comment - having a pump dedicated to a vessel eliminates hose swaps (and associated sticky drips and spills) during a brew session, and it does reduce the number of electric valves required. When I'm cleaning, I'll usually fill all three vessels about 1/2 to 2/3rds full of hot...

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

Ah ha!! I wasn't following the path all the way through, just looking at the one coil controlling the two separtate 120V circuits. I also like not having to have a stack of four contacts on the power switch, which was my original thought. Thanks for the GREAT ideas!!! :)

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

doug293cz, Sorry I went dark until now - but it's SUNDAY now!! :) The wire diagram looks great! I like the use of one DPDT Contactor taking care of the two 120V circuits - in my head, I was going to keep everything isolated, but I guess there's no reason to do so at the contactor. I'm...

240v Elements -Single SSR or 2? Pros / Cons?

...which is why the neutral is only being used on the 120V side of the circuit to energize the 120V coil. That's the sound ME having an A-HA moment as well! Thanks for asking the question, Adam!!

    Advanced HMI with BCS462

I'm on my 34th generation of fingernails... I've gone through some toenails... I can't wait for V4.0!!! ;)

    BCS 462 , 4 element, 3 pump, 2 x 50amp circuits

The fatal flaw in your question is "need." You have three vessels, you will move liquid product (water, wort) from kettle to kettle to fermentor. You should WANT three pumps to avoid having to change hoses during a brew day, or just for the BLING!!! :)

Lets see how crazy its gotten. How much have you spent on your Electric Brewery?

I refuse to acknowledge what I have sunk in my home brewery... yup... I'm in complete denial!! I've been at this for almost 10 years, and I've chased more rabbits down the hole than I care to admit, from automated propane to now all-electric based on a BCS-462. The info is there - I track...

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

Doug293cz, I'm happy to say "That makes sense!!" :) I was planning on keeping all of the electrons for each circuit separate in the control box, especially since only one of the circuits will be multipurposed - the 120V/20A circuit that powers up the BCS-462, pumps, valves, AC/DC...

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

Jeffmeh, Got it!! That makes sense... I think. I hope I don't blow my new-found enthusiasm with the next couple of questions. When wiring up each of the four Power In Relays to the Power key switch, I’m betting that I will be coming into the contact on the power switch using a single...

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

I'll have to spend a few minutes pondering that - I'm still trying to visualize it. I guess my initial confusion is on your use of six? I have four power sources, 2 30A/240V, and 2 20A/120V. Is it because I have 2 hots for each 30A/240V circuit? Time for me to sharpen my pencil and do some...

Whoa!! You might have lost on me on that 6 hot lines through the contactor comment - are you talking about 6 contacts stacked up on a selector switch?

    List of PJ Electrical Diagrams

The primary reason for my going this route was the significant cost and lower availability of electrical components once you go above 240V/30A. I had been thinking of stacking four N.O. contacts on the main power selector, and running each of the power lines through them, and that may be the...

Many, MANY thanks to all who have contributed so much to this thread (and others), and certainly a very special shout-out to P-J!! And hey, Kal, my retirement savings and my daughter's college fund still all HATE you! ;) I've read all 65 pages, and I got more than a little excited on page 45...
