Stone Enjoy By 07/04 & RuinTen

Geremiah - I can get PtE occasionally here. I just tried my first one last week. DISCLAIMER: I am not an IPA guy. So yeah, I thought it was overrated. It was excellent, but not the 'miracle in a bottle' I was expecting from all I've read. Anyway, I'd be interested in picking up some...

American Pale Ale Summer Pale Ale

I'm getting ready to brew this soon. I hate to tweak a recipe before I've even tried it. However, what do you think about doing the flavor and aroma hop schedule with just Amarillo and Willamette along with the Magnum for bittering?

favorite recipe you have tried from this site

Yooper's Hoppy Amber. I'll keep this one around all the time!

American Amber Ale Hoppy American Amber or Malty American Pale Ale?

This being only the 2nd beer I've ever made, I cannot believe how fantastic it turned out. I chose this because I like Red Rocket from Bear Republic but, after this one, I'm not sure I like that anymore! My LHBS told me they had it all in stock and then subbed Special B and Oat Malt for the...

Do you dry hop in the primary or the secondary?

Good question. I was wondering the same thing myself. I'm on my 5th batch and haven't dry-hopped any yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it. 11-1 makes me feel a lot better about not using a secondary, which was my main hesitation. Thanks!

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

YES! We've must have reached the pinnacle of craft brewing if we can brew something that tastes like a McGriddle. We may as well stop home brewing because it doesn't get any better than that. McBrew is innevitable ;)

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I just put mine in the carboy Monday night with Nottingham and it ferments out pretty fast. Mine is already clearing up. I've seen some comments on here that you could go as fast as 1.5 wk in the carboy and 1.5 in bottles. I'm sure that is not optimal. I've also read that its still good if...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I had this issue at the start of fermentation but adding yeast nutrients and energizer solved it right away.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Actually, I use Brewer'sFriend and it says this is still within style for a Blonde Ale. Either way though, as long as it tastes great!

    Another 3 tier system

I like to brew with strawberry blondes too ;)

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I brewed this last night. It's just my 4th brew and I'm still dialing some things in. Followed BM's recipe for the most part, but I bumped the grainbill a bit to get 1050 OG for a 5% ABV. And I just couldn't resist throwing the remaining .5 oz each of both hops into the wort while chilling...

Moose Drool by Big Sky Brewery

I'm in Sacramento, but most grocery chains and beer stores carry this out here. Enjoy SF! We moved out here from Columbus, OH about 12 years ago.

Wolves in sheep's clothing (non-craft breweries)

Alaskan is still independent: "The brewery was founded in Juneau, Alaska by Marcy and Geoff Larson, who are still in charge of the company." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaskan_Brewing_Company Geoff and Marcy and the Brew Crew wanted Alaskan Brewing Co. to benefit the state of Alaska and the...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Could be heresy here but: Ninkasi Total Domination was almost undrinkable for me.

going to bottle this weekend. can't wait to get a taste!

Can I use this for a Mash Tun

For me, dead space is not a real issue with the 60qt Igloo Ice Qube. If you get your pick-up line to the bottom (I use stainless steel mesh) then the siphon effect will pull your wort up and out. Head space is not an issue either. I just mashed a 14 lb grain bill and only lost 1 degree over 1...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

@winenewb172 I didn't think about using electrical tape. That would've been so much better than my sloppy duct tape that was never air-tight. Hopefully, I won't need to do that again, but thanks for the idea.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I racked it to a secondary this evening and took a hydrometer sample. Go figure: current gravity is 1010! OG was 1071 5 days ago, so the Notties were keeping their heads down and quietly going about their work :tank: I tasted the sample and it wasn't too much of anything, but with just...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

That's a good point. I just ordered a thief that will be here on Wed. Otherwise, I would have to use my autosiphon which would waste a lot. The thief should arrive by Wed and I'll update them. Thanks! dp
