    Favorite Pubs in Birmingham, UK

There are quite a few "real ale" pubs in Birmingham. The best two are, The Anchor on Bradford St and The Wellington on Constitution Hill. Both have at least 20 cask ales and numerous bottled beers. Both operate a "try before you buy" policy and will exchange any beer that your not happy with...

Presents from Santa: Wrapped or Unwrapped?

All gifts should be wrapped. Its about presentation. But if you want to blatantly lie to your children its up to you. Santa Claus/ Father Christmas doesnt exist. You know it, everyone else knows it, so why should you impress on your children that he does exist

    Beer Know-Nothing Seeks Advice

Gift cards are very impersonal. If he is already brewing beer he will have all the equipment he needs. You need to get something that you know he will use. ie a bag of 2-row malt or Maris Otter. Or a selection of speciality malts, thats what I would appreciate.

    GearBeer's Overengineered Hop Trellis

With reference to your soil condition, heres what I would do. Wait until spring and when the first shoots start to appear and dig them up. Dig a hole at least 3ft deep and line it witk thick polythene. Puncture this many times with a garden fork. Throw in at list 6 inches of broken up...

My Collection of Branded, British beer Glasses.

Im willing to post the first glass and well take it from there. So if you recieve a glass and dont bother to send the P+P then I wont send anymore (actually I will, but Im sure you undertand I dont want to be out of pocket too many times). I think it will cost about £3.00 or approx $4.50 ( gong...

My Collection of Branded, British beer Glasses.

These are not for sale. They are free to a good home. Ive collected 74 branded beer glasses over the years and I just havent got the space to keep them (Thats not exactly true. It was more the wife saying "get those bloody glasses moved". So, I thought Id offer them to you guys in the US, as I...

Substitute 500g of torrified wheat from your base malt will give you all the head retention and body you require without affecting any other flavours

    GearBeer's Overengineered Hop Trellis

Ive just had a quick read and look at your post and the first thing that springs to mind is the quality of your soil. To be honest it looks terrible. You really need to get some well rotted organic material in there, and I mean bucket loads. Excellent trellis though.
