Hi, I am doing the extract version of Yoppers DFH 60 min IPA and have a question about Crystal Malt. I bought 1 lb milled(I hope milled) as the recipe called for but I have no Idea how to use it or what it is for? I just placed my order so there is time. Any help on this would be great.

Thanks I just got done reading the 37 pages from one of the treads that Yooper started. Wow Great info. I am thinking of doing the 60 as a full boil utilizing the all grain hop utilization. I am just a little leary on the Crystal Malt as I have no experience with grains what so ever.

Before I even start to ask my question I have to say I did try doing a search. Ok Disclaimer is over! I am not a AG or even a partial mash brewer as I have only one beer under my belt a belgian dubble. So I am looking for a DFH 90min IPA (yeah I know real original) extract kit or extract...

Excellent, Can't wait till I get a spare moment to get my stuff and put it all to gether. 4 1/2 gallons Water 15 lbs Rasberry blossom honey 1 Pk Red Star Champagne Yeast Yeast Nutrients 1 month in a 6 gal primary, 2 months in a 5 gal secondary, 5 months in the bottle. 8 months total.

Thanks Good thing I sat back and thought for a moment. I was calculating 3 lbs of honey for 1 gallon of water multiply times 5. Well I for some reason went to the website (just looking not ordering) and thought I needed 15 gallons of honey. Don't ask me why. I also have a yeast...

Oh yeah this will be 5 gallons of straight mead, not yet sure what type of honey I will be using as cost is a consideration (Thinking rasberry honey though).

I am planning on doing a mead (bought a 6 gal carboy just for it) and am going to purchase honey from the Flying Bee Ranch and am gust wondering what a gallon of honey weighs in Lbs sense all the recipies # lbs of honey/gallon of water.

Yooperbrew, Have you ever added woodchips to the welches wine and if so when would be the best time to do so. I have a 5 gal batch that I just started last night and am thinking of waiting 2weeks to add the American light oak chips and then let it sit for 2 more weeks. Actually anyone...
