    Corny Keg Leaves Black Everywhere

I used to hand polish the rubber using peanut oil. The rag gets black and the oil does something to the rubber. I recently used a small buffing wheel on a drill to polish/buff the rubber. That worked great and no more black marks.

    Cleaning glue from bottles

Peanut Butter.... Rub it in with your finger and hot water to rinse off. Works like a charm on most of the glues I've encountered thus far.

What makes star san go cloudy?

Distilled Water is my trick.... Lasts months with lots of re-use....

    Simple hop strainer assembly

:off: Sorry off topic but: Dude did you give up coffee the morning you cut the lid opening on that keggle? Hang on one more.... Dude, power tools and drinking should not be done together... That's one drunken looking keggle opening...

    Brew stand paint advice

Not knowing what I was doing either... I applied high heat primer (2 coats) then high temp paint from bLowes. Other than early scratches I've had little to no issues. I do think I'll need to hit a few areas with the flap disk and primer/paint. Mainly where my keggles drag across the...

I use the 11# digital scale from Harbor Freight. Got it on sale for $16 and does gram, Oz and LBS.

    Plastic Bucket Fermentors

After looking up what a drum tap was.... It's like a bottling spigot. I use a bottling spigot but hey they are similar so I'm assuming they are the same on the inside of the bucket. Using a #1 bung (pretty sure that's the size) over a shortened racking cane holds your dip tube in place...

    6 pack carrier

That's pretty cool looking. I wouldn't buy it, but I might attempt to make one...

    Removing Lids on Ale Pails?

Drilled a 1.5" hole into the lid and use a #10 bung to plug it up. I fill via this port, aerate and sample via a thief. Note: Double check the hole size in relation to whatever bung you get.

a racking cane and a march pump

HeHeHe I can tell you from experience, IT FECKING SUCKS! While assisting a fellow brewer his dip tube stuck ( I had warned him this looked like it would happen). What we did was: Use a barb based shut off valve he had, put it on the racking cane hose other side of valve (valve open)...

    How much Star San

+1.060 I completely agree. Stop in RiteAid or the likes, as most of those places will even give away childrens medicine droppers. Perfect for measuring Star San.... I use 6 ml of Star San mixed in 1 gal of distilled water. Using distilled water I don't have to worry about the PH level...

What makes star san go cloudy?

I do the same... Distilled water and it lasts for months. I maintain 2-3 gallons in a keg. once or twice a year I might just dump it and start fresh. Also add it to a spray bottle and spritz your equipment to sanitize. Helps it last a lot longer...

    RIMS for Dummies

Excellent thread... I saw one question that I couldn't find an answer too... Will a single wall outlet provide enough power to run both the pump and a small 1500w element without worrying about burning the house down?

    Direct Fire MLT Insulation Project

I've been using ducting insulation (insulation that slips over the a/c ducting). I was thinking of using Reflectix above the skirt of the keg. By feeling the heat and taking some measurements I found my setup didn't get hot enough where the reflectix would be. How far down did you...

Boiling hot wort in glass carboy...

I still do..... remember Richard Reid and or the Panty Bomber.... I apply the same logic to submarines.... why get into a boat that is designed to sink....

Boiling hot wort in glass carboy...

Sounds like some extra work IMO.... Why not just go to buckets and not worry about the shattering glass?

    Keg + Bayou Classic SP10 = fail

I had a similar issue with my CampChef burner.... (May be same MFG).... I used 2 pieces of 15" angle iron.... placed it on the 2 opposing outside edges and the keg on top.... never had issue with it after that... Note I have replaced the campchef with my own design rig...
