    I just brewed a batch with 2-3 year oz of EKG i found in the back of my freezer, were fine and beer is delicious, look for yellowing and cheesy smelling hops as indication they are crappy, and grain will be soft like stale popcorn when you chew some to test

    Whats your grain crush like? Whats your mash ph? Did you check if your thermometer is accurate? Are you using correct water volumes? Sort those things out and next batch yoy will definitely see a better target OG, 12 lbs of grain fot 5 gallon batch should definitely yield a 1060 OG, best of luck...

    I halfway agree with that, i use refractometer throughout brewday for OG but still use hydrometer post ferment for FG

    Such a help, i do as much they day before as possible too, get fermenter cleaned, get everything ready to go really helps move things along on brew day
