I just received a Blichman HERMS coil for my 20gal Blichman HLT. Once installed it renders the sight glass markings useless. Now I could measure a gal at a time and remark all the etchings. But this makes the flow meter even more appealing.

That's exactly why I've went to a whole new brew system a Blichmann top tier and a riptide pump. Gives me both gravity and a pump. I'm getting to old to be lifting 10 gal batches. The ability to pressure ferment and a closed transfer. My wife loves Pilsners so I can cold crash and lager in place.

I like the idea of running the temp controller through the side. I would be worried I'd drill through a coolant line or electrical. So there is no lines running through the side? I also have a new door gasket on order.

This is the kenmore 15.3 cu ft with the 9" extension legs I only had 3 inches of clearance to the top. so I stopped assembly and removed the leg extensions.

That's a good idea remove the door liner and replace it with a flat panel. With the the 15.3 cu ft kenmore you can get away with not having to do that for the cf10. You probably gained an extra 3" doing that

Well if I take the leg extensions off and leg extension shelf the 14 gal spike fermenter just fits in my 15 cu. ft. kenmore upright freezer with enough room for the accessories on the lid. And I removed the cross pieces on the door shelves for an extra 1/2" of depth

Has anyone tried putting a collar on an upright freezer to give you more depth for a conical?

I'm working on setting up my Top Tier 20 gallon system. Since this came with a tower of power controller for the HLT I've decided to add a Herms coil to recirculate the mash. So I'm coming out of the mash tun to the riptide pump, out of the pump to the herms coil, Out of the herms coil and let...

I think I figured out what that funny looking narrow shelf is for right below the HLT burner.

thanks Rufus that's the plan. a water only first run I still have to mount the pump and play with the tower of power controller unit the runs the HLT

as its configured right now its 6 ft to the top of the top burner. that may change in the future for brewing in the garage. the nice thing about a top tier is you can use gravity as your friend. I'll be using just one pump.

Morebeer use to sell kettles under their name a few years back. Who made those kettles for them? I have a 15 gallon one and in comparing it to the new to me blichmann kettles it is more heavy duty and a lot heavier in weight than the Blichmann.
