BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

My program could do any commissions for any “ widget”. It had tax reports, client reports and all kinds of things that did not need to be a pay phone. It did have a few things that we specific to a pay phone, but that dealt more with being able to import, sorta like the node red...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Years ago, I had written an MS Access databasae program in VBA for a friend of mine to manage his payphone business. I then "leased" the program for a yearly fee to several companies. Once the business was no longer profitable or worth my time, I sent all the users a forever password. I am...

    Don't Do That.

I run water backwards To prime. Fortunately never had this problem (yet)! But if i do, i will remember this.

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

One of the strengths of BruControl is also an issue. A good example is Port 10 in the configuration of BruControl, depending on the Firmware. In my mind, it would have been better to have it act the same regardless of Ethernet or not. It is not easy to change from Serial to Ethernet...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

You could create a list of all the hardware and a copy of the .brucfg file for the BruControl side. I do not have an android phone, but maybe it would work on a Fire Tablet?

    Old style phone culture

Long Distance? What is that! In 1994, it was long distance to call accross the steet in the town where I live. On side was GE, the other side was Southwest Bell. Home Phone? Very few now.

    Old style phone culture

When I lived in England, my number was Kimbolton 303. If you called anyone in the Kimbolton area, you just dialed the 3 digits. If you were outside the area, there was a long sequence of numbers to get to Kimbolton, similar to area codes but differed depending on WHERE you were calling...

You used to abe able to tell where a call was from, but being able to keep your number has done away with that!

    Need a carboy hoist

I have one as well. I have a 20 gal MLT that I have lowered to add the grain but raise it to transfer. I don’t see how this could help get the jacket off the bucket.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I was going to work years ago when a guy in a very nice old Hemi punched it and lost control and ended up running sideways to an wall. I would be afraid of that acceleration. I no longer drive (have not for many years) so any comments I make is from a person with no dog in the hunts. That...

    Don't Do That.

I use BruControl but have a step where I check the Fermenter Valves CLOSED BEFORE I transfer the WORT. You can guess why!

    Need a carboy hoist

Lifting a full bucket regularly with the bail will invite a disaster one day. What about a bucket shaped stand (Slightly smaller than your bucket) where you could slip the cover down around the stand and expose the bucket?

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I can see insurance companies requiring a rider for EV in a garage or those with “chargers”

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

All of that is true; I do not use buttons becuse of the way they behave, so I use switches instead. You can set just a border (not really the border but it looks like one) around a button with color but sotra lame. I would love an alignment tool, I use the x y (height, witdh) fields to do...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

I think BruControl is fairly solid in its present state. my main issue is the Globals and the sql database. I cannot use the Local sql as mine gets to multi GBs and crashes my computer badly. I could create a node red for what Lilttle data I might want to save. I do have lots of globals...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

I found the same issue somewhat with times: If you have a string you want to set a time, you CANNOT use a time variable but you can pass it to a global time element. I discovered this when I was trying to set a time for the transfer of sparge water from the HLT to the MLT based on flow rate x...
