My 50th batch and finally go to 10 gal.

My set up. It has been a work in progress. But I have enjoyed every minute of it. No I have not had any problems with scorching I use a big Bayou classic burner in my homemade stand it is very stable and brings my wort temperature up quick. The tall stand has my old turkey fryer burner in it. I...

    My siphon problem and solution

Use a barbed ball lock on the out port of the keg. Hook up your siphoning hose to it and let it drain. Very little aeration will occur especially if you purge the keg with co2 leaving the lid on with the poppet valve open. This is what I do. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Home Brew mobile app

My 50th batch and finally go to 10 gal.

No build pics. Works pretty good. Nocks temps down quick if I recirculate ice water through it. Wish I had a plate chiller though due to the size of it. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Home Brew mobile app

My 50th batch and finally go to 10 gal.

Thought I would share a pic of my IC for ten gal. batches. For my 50th batch i finally got the courage to brew 10 gal. Instead of 5 gal. The day way a bit longer than normal but it went smooth. I tried the triple hopped Miller using some home grown hops.. I still can't believe how cheap this...

You know you're a home brewer when?

You have to explain to your friends how your eye lashes got singed when you were trying to see if your flame was optimal and that it is not weird. And that you are not obsessed with beer..

When is the brewing community going to get one of these?

Anyone who thinks this is brewing beer is just not a brewer. Nuts

    almost too cold to brew

Well I had trouble getting my mash temp set, had to heat my mash water back up before adding the grain because it was 17 degrees outside. Once I got the mash set up I had to deal with the ice that formed from me spilling water. Oh and one of the propane bottles freezing up. I have been thinking...

Getting wort from kettle to carboy!

Yea, if you open the valve all the way the hot break and gunk in the whirlpool cone tends to get pulled out of the center and goes out. I also have a baffle welded to the bottom of my kettle that is a half inch in front of the drain. Helps to lesson the suction of center cone.

Getting wort from kettle to carboy!

Hey all. I use to use a spider, but have switched to the whirlpool method. After cooling I whirlpool and let it sit for 20 min. I sanitize my HLT and slowly gravity drain the wort to it, letting it splash. My way of aeration. I then allow it to settle for another 20 min. while I am cleaning...
