I just noticed that I'm starting to get airlock activity again. There hasn't been any for several days and today I took the lid off to check my FG and now there is. Is this normal? I also haven't been putting as many frozen bottles in the swamp bath. Could it being a little warmer cause this too?

That makes sense! Well im going to leave it in the primary until tomorrow and then add the dry hops for 4-5 days and keg it. Im excited to give this a try when its all done! Thanks for the help!

I just read the description on the recipe and it does say that its supposed to have a grapefruit character to it so that may be what im tasting. It also says that its supposed to have a sweetness from the C-80 (is that the yeast strain?) Also I pitched the yeast around 78 which I have now heard...

Today is day 11 and I just took the lid off the bucket for the first time to take a gravity reading. My target FG is 1.011 and im right at 1.014. I tasted it when i was done taking the gravity reading and it tasted pretty good other then a slight fruity taste. Is this because its still early or...

Okay and you would keep it in a swamp bath the whole time?

When I switch over to my secondary and dry hop should I put it in the swamp bath I have my primary in? Or leave it out at room temps? (Around 74-76)

Yeah I'm excited to try it! It's in a bucket now so I can't see it but as far as I can tell so far so good! Yesterday was day 5 of fermentation and the bubble activity stopped so it seems like it's right on track to be good. The Simcoe hops smell so good!

So it is worth it? Ive always heard that dry hopping doesnt do much and you get most out of the hops when boiling them.

Hey my first brew is a Simcoe pale ale and is currently in the fermenter. The recipe from my LHBS included dry hops and said to dry hop for 2 days after 2 weeks in the primary. Is the dry hopping worth it for the risk of getting an infection?

My work gets pickles in 5 gallon buckets. I took home some of the buckets and was wondering if it would be okay to keep some of my starsan in one. I know the bucket is food safe my only concern is after washing and scrubbing a numerous of times there is still a slight pickle smell. Is this okay?
