    Questions about juice wine/hooch

Can't you order proper yeast online? Not sure bread yeast will work that well.

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

Thanks! Was wondering if it may leave some sort of sediment or after taste, but if it is truly no-rinse, then, giddy up!

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

Dumb question perhaps from a newbie, but is StarSan or OneStep truly 'no rinse'? If I squirt the insider of my bottles with a vinator, is that good enough, or should I rinse them as well with clean water after sanitizing?

    Beer in Screw-Top Wine Bottles

Yeah, I have done that in the past too with success, but trying to get away from plastic bottles (and the temptation to open a 2L bottle which has needs to be consumed in one sitting! LOL)

    Beer in Screw-Top Wine Bottles

    No, they don't

    Beer in Screw-Top Wine Bottles

Truer words have never been spoken.... LOL

    Beer in Screw-Top Wine Bottles

Ok, thanks guys. I'll abandon the idea of bottling beer in wine bottles...

    Beer in Screw-Top Wine Bottles

I have some empty screw-top wine bottles lying around. Will those work for beer? Will the original screwtops hold carbonation?

    Cooling Wort Using Frozen Bottles

Wouldn't the bottles with ice in them float though? Not sure how effective that would be in cooling. Also, although the bottles may not melt, I do believe the plastic may leach chemicals if heated (I remember reading somewhere not to drink from a waterbottle that's been in a hot car for...

    first 5 gallon was hectic

Thanks for the dishwasher tip. I'm sure it's standard procedure for the verteran homebrewer, but it's a great tip I would not have thought of which will avoid a lot of cleanup. Thank you!

    Swing-Top Bottles

Yes, thanks everyone. Found some used swing-tops, so will try them out.

    Swing-Top Bottles

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I figured the ease of swing-tops were too good to be true. LOL

    Swing-Top Bottles

Ok, I'm wondering about bottles. I assume swing-top bottles are easier to use than cap bottles, but thougtht I would test that assumption before invesitng in them. So... 1) Are swing-tops better? 2) Do the swing-top caps last? Thanks in advance...

    Airlock Water

Thanks for that 'pro' tip! Adding to the list of brewing 'hacks' ;)

    Airlock Water

Should the water in the airlock be a sanitized solution, or is plain water okay? One beginner kit recipe says to use sanitzed water, the other just says water. Does it matter? Thanks in advance...

Easiest All-Grain Recipe for a Newbie

Thanks - that's probably the best idea. I bought my starter equipment there and they were very helpful.

Easiest All-Grain Recipe for a Newbie

Ok, another question from this eager newbie: What would be the easiest all-grain receipe for a novice brewer to start with? I pretty much enjoy every type of beer, so it doesn't matter to me what I brew. I want to 'graduate' to an all-grain brew, but don't want to bite off more than I can...

    3-Gallon Recipe in a 5-Gallon Pail?

Ok, another newbie question (I've become obsessed with homebrewing after only one attempt!) Is it okay to ferment a 3-gallon recipe in a 6.5-gallon pail? Is there too much air, or does it matter once fermentation has begun. Thanks in advance!

    Full Boil VS Partial Boil

Sorry, I'm new to homebrewing so I'm 'practising' with a Brewer's Best kit before graduating to a non-kit recipe. The one I am specifically asking about is an American Amber Ale, but all of their recipes seem to have the same instructions for the wort...
