I did mine last sunday. Had to use canned pumpkin since all of the stores I had called said they wouldn't get any pumpkins in until the last week of september at the earliest. However, I noticed last wednesday that vons already had some
Man I was scouring the net looking for a good pumpkin porter recipe but just couldn't find one that really jumped out for me. In the end I went with a simple pumpkin ale but I think I may just have to give your recipe a go too-if you don't mind.
I'm in the same exact boat as you with the same exact plan.
I really liked what I saw from Bobbi M @ http://www.brewhardware.com. He's on this site and has had great reviews. I dig the sight glass/thermometer combo.
Also I would definitely make sure to have a thermo on my bk as I too plan...
Home brew mart is in linda vista now. Never know they started in solana. I buy my yeast and any items I need in a hurry but they're prices, in my opinion, are ridiculous. Ballast Point is however one of my favorite local brewers though.
Pumpkin ales, amber lagers and some good hard cider are my go to fall beers. I did a belgian dubble batch not too long ago that I woudn't mind if only it lasted. Come winter though all I want are porters and stouts
I've been listening to brew strong over the last couple weeks and think they are awesome. I haven't gotten around to any others but hopefully with time i will be able to
Another lucky one here.
Mine bought my starter kit a bit over a year ago. She doesn't drink much (some mixed drinks every now and then) so i'm also blessed with a constant dd.
That's a great idea. Karl Strauss has a black rye out right now that's just wonderful. In fact I may have to give this a go, especially since i've done that kit twice in the past and everyone loved it
Just noticed this the other day and was pretty excited over it. I've been on a pretty big rye kick lately and was planning on doing a rye as soon as I go all grain. Guess now I get to try rye extract before the rye all grain
I've done the co2 on top of the secondary in the past and hadn't noticed any ill effects. I believe i racked it a bit early too so there would be still be a little activity to help push out the rest of the air
