I agree I'm gonna do that as soon as I get a chance. I've already checked it out but it didn't appear that there was very much activity. Let's get this going.

I have only done extract batches so I prob wouldn't be much help doing all grain. I may in the future move to all grain but will stick with extract for now as it is a simpler process and involves less equipment.

I'm not too local as I live in springville. I have three batches under my belt all extract kits from northern brewer. My first two came out really good and my third is currently in the fermentor. I have just over half a case of my last batch left its the brickwarmer holiday red from northern...

I'm in Springville an have done three batches so far so I'm pretty new to this myself. All three have been extract kits from northern brewer. The first two have come out very good and my third is currently in the fermentor. I have about half a case of my second batch brick warmer holiday red...

    Questions from a new brewer.

I've done three batches so far and from what I've learned from this forum is that a secondary is not always needed. That being said I've left my batches in the primary for three weeks and then bottle conditioned for three weeks. I've also had all three of my batches come out darker than expected...

    Second batch

Thanks guys I guess I will just stick with what I've been doing. Seems to be working for me and it seems like most people do it in a similar way.

    Third batch areation question

I also add two gallons to the fermentor then add the wort I have never shaken at this point in the process do you cover your fermentor with anything or just leave it open?? I also top off to five gal and that is when I cover with the sanitized aluminum foil and shake for several min. Also I have...

    Third batch areation question

So I'm about to brew my third batch tomorrow and the instructions for my previous as well at this one say to seal the fermentor and shake vigorously for several min. The last two batches I covered the carboy with a piece of sanitized aluminum foil and shook vigorously for several minutes this...

    Second brew FG question

Yeah it tasted great when I took my hydrometer samples and I was hoping for a fairly high abv so I'm really excited about this one.

    Second brew FG question

It's definitely stable and my hydrometer samples tastes very very good. The recipe that came with the kit gave the OG but not the FG so I was not sure where it should finish. It's only my second batch so I'm still learning the ropes so to speak.

    Second brew FG question

    Bump..... :)

    Second brew FG question

It was an extract kit from northern brewer and it was in the fermenter for three weeks exactly. I took my first FG on Thursday night and my second on Sunday morning so it was stable for two and a half or three days.

    Second brew FG question

So my second brew is all bottled up. It's NB's brickwarmer holiday red. My OG was 1.060 and had great fermentation. I checked my FG last thurs and last Sunday and it came in at 1.018. This seems very low to me. Does anyone have any opinion or advice on anything I may have done wrong or is this...
