    How did you start...?

I’ve always wanted to brew but always had false starts. In fact, I came back from Germany in 2001 convinced I was going to open a great Colorado beer garden! Man, I wish I would have done that!! Anyway, fast forward to around 2015...my wife bought me a Groupon for a local “brew on site”...

    SS Brewtech Brew Bucket--First Use

What are you guys doing for temp control on these? I’d like to move on one but not sure if it will fit in my Magic Chef 4.4cf fridge.

Ss Brewtech Huge Giveaway - 7 Gallon Unitank + Sspunding Valve

That looks like a nice piece of equipment.

    Random Picture Thread

I just got back from the EPCOT Food and Wine festival and they had that! They also had a note that showed how it’s pronounced so people would stop ordering “ass beer”!

    Boil overs

I always keep one spray bottle of star San and one of fresh water near by brew space (bottles are different colors and clearly labeled). If/when I get a boil over I’ll spray some fresh water and it always knocks it down.

    storing grains

I use the ziplock container and buckets/gamma lids. I was at Costco the other day and they had the 60G vittle vault for $28. Seems like a good price (more expensive than buckets and lids but people swear by them!)

A Genuine Viewpoint Opposing LODO As Unsubstantiated

There is True Beer and then everything else! Nothing approaches the awesomeness of True Beer!

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you have a dream that your fermonsters have a hole in them and wake up convinced you need to upgrade to ss.

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

That’s a shame. What finally nudged me from Brewers Friend over to BS was the mobile timer.

    What brewery are you visiting?

Anyone been to Walking Tree Brewery in Vero Bch, FL?

    Don't Do That.

Get ready to do a closed loop transfer from fermonster to pressurized keg, hook up from “out” keg post to spigot and turn the valve forgetting to connect “in” post on keg to “in” post on fermonster thus venting the keg into your fermenter! Loop? I don’t need no stinking loop! [emoji12]...

    Cold crashing in Keg

This is exactly what I have been doing. I transfer to my keg and let it carb at “basement temp” using the last few points and/or some sugar, and then throw It in the keezer. The first few pints do look like yeast stew!

Beginning brewers - You can start with all grain

I started with partial mash which is a good bridge, I believe. After about 4 brews I went to BIAB and had zero trouble making that transition since they are essentially the same “moving parts”. From there I started to pay attention to water, learn more about temps (through the entire...

Heading to CO and UT in September--ideas for must-visit breweries?

In Estes, Estes Park Brewery is so-so at best. Lumpy Ridge has no food but the beer is ok as I remember and they have a good view from the patio. The place itself is very small. If you go ask if Wade is there and tell him “cool dude” said hello - he designed the logo I have and does a lot of...

A Genuine Viewpoint Opposing LODO As Unsubstantiated

Steal-toe is so much better for LODO! If you use a copper-toe boot it’s frowned upon! [emoji1]

A Genuine Viewpoint Opposing LODO As Unsubstantiated

I’ve been thinking about all the arguments re LODO and came to the conclusion that I really don’t care how you brew your damn beer! Man, you could steal a fireman’s boot from the street corner this Labor Day weekend and ferment in that for all I care! If you say it works for you and you like...

    Fermentation Vessels

I ditched glass for beer (still use some for wine though) and use the Fermonsters. My reasoning: safer, easier to move (I brew out side and have to carry the fermenter through my garage and down into the basement and I don’t want to lug glass around), inexpensive, wide opening - easy to clean...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Well done, sir! Well done. [emoji1] I made this from 1/2” black pipe (I painted red) from HD (they have the black and galvanized but black was cheaper). It was my original BIAB stand. I have cross arms to hang bottles, paddles, kettle lid, etc (just used some chain and hooks) and an arm that...
