Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I bought the biggest one offered at the time. Should've probably pieced mine together to fit my needs better. In talks with spike and arbor fab to go to a custom 30 gallon kettle set up.

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Pretty sure this is what happened to me. They canceled my order for the new pump. Reordered at another place that hopefully has it in stock. I don't think so. I talked to Kal about it. He's thinking the same as above. Crap settled on the element and not enough movement below the basket.

Will an element scorch if covered with hop residue ?

Now it's like seeing twins. Yes, I'm Justin. Hopefully with the bigger pump it'll have enough output to feed both top and bottom of the vessel so I can at least eliminate that from the equation.

Will an element scorch if covered with hop residue ?

The one that comes with it is definitely not ulwd. The one I got from you is. The worts always cloudy and the element is also always caked in proteins when Im done. Like the video I sent you on FB your element cleaned right up no problem on the first brew. These last two I don't have a way...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

No, not crushing the oats. I constantly watch the level outside the basket and if it gets down from even I shut the element off. Lately I sit in my chair right at the kettle and watch it, turn the element on and off but I wasn't even that far yet. I had literally just turned the element on...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

So two major brew fails in a row again and I'm about to throw the towel in on this thing. This was a batch I've brewed once already so not sure why it scorched again but it did. Crush was checked with feelers at .045. Did a 120* rest without the element being on, hit the power button to heat...

Will an element scorch if covered with hop residue ?

I've burned two more with the 804 element. I'm about to throw it all in the trash and stop brewing all together.

Well 40lbs is too much for the 20 gallon system. The 25 probably could've made it work but I gave up before the mash was over and cut my losses. The mash was a brick no matter what I did. I had 17 gallons of water in with 40# of grain and 1# of rice hulls and just couldn't get anything to...

I've brewed a 10 gallon batch already around 80ibu's. No flour ever used. Barf. First 10 gallons lasted 3 weeks.

My recipe doing 15 gallons of this has an IBU target of around 80. Not sure how close that is but it'll smell an entire room up when poured.

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I've done one big NE IPA and it turned out really well. Here is a review from a guy on another board I post on. As you can see he's reviewed over 2000 beers, I sent him two beers to review for me. This was the IPA. And yeah, I'm always open to reviewing, I just passed 2000 of them on...

So what's the biggest grain bill someone has done? I know it can do 32lbs and it's still a decent mash consistency. My next recipe calls for 40lbs of grain, anyone push it yet?

Used the SS brewtech mash manifold tonight. By far the easiest mash so far but my efficiency was terrible. Was supposed to hit 1.055 and came in at 1.044 after boiling longer than planned plus doing a 164* mash out. Also used the new element, worked great but the mash was about 2-3* below...

There's video in my last couple brew days of the start of the trench. I'll try to do a separate one of clean up after the next brew day. I didn't get a chance to brew Wednesday like planned. Trench is 10" wide and 72" long. Currently runs into the drainage tile from the house but I'll...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I cut a trench in my basement and bought a small electric power washer. Big steps but totally worth it, clean up is quick and easy now. Before that I just took it out and power washed it in the yard.

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I have videos posted of 11 gallon brews that end up in the 5's no problem on a mostly stock system. You need something to throttle the output of the pump, mag drives should always have some pressure on them. So add a 3 way or a valve on the output of the pump. As long as it doesn't have...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

It won't go in the stock housing the way it comes. Going to cut the first triclover off tomorrow where CBS welds it instead of using a second clamp and I think it'll go in just fine. I did a 31# 11 gallon batch and have done 3 30# 15.5 gallon batches. I did burn the element on two of them...
