It would be too hot. The cooler of temp you can dry hops with, the better. Now, if you did just tumble dry where the heater core didn't engage, I could see that working if there's a middle rack to keep the hops from being mashed up.

It's actually a very efficient way of controlling temps, as water has a large thermal mass. Lots of people use water baths to keep their fermenters in.

Just fill it with water, dump in oxyclean, let it sit for two days. I think you're being overly concerned with glass and it's fragility.
