    Blichmann boilermaker/hop blocker

I had issues at first and almost gave up using it, then I followed the specific instructions in the Blichmann video and it had worked well since

    Recirculating mash Heat tube

no scorching here, I had some issues at first due to a crappy return manifold design, it returned the wort to one spot on top the grain bed, if I went full open on my ball valves the return would ''channel" really bad causing the temp probe to get a low reading and that would drive the element...

    Recirculating mash Heat tube

Mine is 2000/240 on a 50a supply. I brew 23g batches, so mash run volume might be 18g and to get from mash temps to mash out takes abouT 15 M

Does anyone build a ready to go RIMS setup?

I don't think anywhere, but you could get a pre made RIMS tube and probe from brewers hardware and an element and pid from ebay.

    Blichmann vs. Morebeer pots?

You would probably have to insulate them if you were not using RIMS or HERMS to control mash temp. I don't know what one would lose less heat unregulated.

    Blichmann vs. Morebeer pots?

Blingmann Boilermakers are great - sight glass, pick up and ball valve all work out great. I also thought they'd be thicker but that's ok. They are easy to clean and look cool! but you will pay! cant speak for the MB. oh yeah the false bottom on the Blingmanns is excellent.

$1000 Budget, from scratch, is it possible?

I think $1000 would be tight for 1/2 bbl. If you were to go with 15g keggles, I think you could do it. Good quality/big volume pots get expensive so if you can sacrifice some volume, then keggles are a cheaper alternative, and they still make great pots. Elements, relays, controllers, and...

    Steam hood thoughts

I do 20gal batches and use almost the same vent set up as above - I have a 8" Active Air fan (720CFM) and some 8" ducting over my BK. The fan is a beast no condensation issues whatsoever it doesn't have a chance to collect, for the $$$$ the Active Air fans are great. IMO you don't need a hood...

My Brewmation/Penrose electric brew setup running for the first time (video)

It will take time to get used to brewing on your new system and after you get a few brews under you're belt it will be easy. For a initial brew-day on a new and advanced system, I would say it went good, hows the brew? We upgraded from 2 propane fired keggles and a cooler to 3 - 30g...

    Help! Blichmann Conical is leaking

"a weird seeping leak between the 90 elbow at the bottom and the threads of the bolt that go up into the bottom of the cone. Its not coming from the cone but it looks like it is seeping up between the top of the elbow and the bottom of the threads" this is after the o-ring that goes against the...

    Help! Blichmann Conical is leaking

That lower elbow and coupling need to be teflon-taped and assembled good and tight before attaching it to the conical. I gave mine a few good wraps of tape and assemble the elbow and fitting in a vise.

    Question on Valves

Stainless is pretty much lifetime and it looks cool! I have both 2 and 3 piece valves and have taken apart and cleaned both, IMO I see no noticeable benefit. 3 piece you need small wrenches and 2 piece you need big wrenches Bargain Fittings has great prices and cheap/really fast shipping.

    Considering a Conical

a Conical with 7 gal of wort should way 70+ lbs? I wouldn't carry that downstairs. We have 14.7 gal conicals and it definatley takes 2 to lift them into the fermentation cabinet. Is a length of hose an option? Brew in the basement? I love my conicals! they are so easy to use and have...

Vent hood and exhaust fan: Minimum CFM?

I brew in my garage and had initially bought a 200-ish CFM duct fan from HD and it did nothing! there was condensation dripping from the ceiling and walls. I upgraded to a Active Air 8" fan 720 CFM. I have it in line with 8" ducting out through a louvered duct on my exterior wall. I have it...

    Emerson 4.6 to Kegerator

Might not be deep enough because of the hump. Maybe if you built. A shelf over the hump you would get enough depth but you might run out of height
