Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

I made a half batch and fermented around 67-70 for 2 weeks. Used safale 05 and it came out great!

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Same thing happened to me with the 2 tones in the fermentor. I'm guessing its just hot break material/proteins that are heavier than the material on top. Once the yeast startin chowin it all get mixed up. Mine is still in the fermentor, so can't tell you if its a bad thing or not. I'm...

    Brewing "Brand" name?

Hey so I'm brewing for my wedding and am thinking of making little labels for the bottles. However, I want some sort of "brand name" for myself. All ideas welcome! My name is Brandon Spencer I go to WSU I'm a computer science major I love gaming when not brewing. A very small insight...

No, I can only fit about 5lbs total of grain for a good water to grain ratio when BIAB. So amylase will work? Is that the same as "diastic powder?" If so then I'll give that a go. Can get amylase cheaper I bet. Edit: my brewpot is 5 gal

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Ya, that's what I thought :(. Well, don't have a mash tun and don't have the means or time to get the stuff to build one. The closest Home Improvement shop to me is about an hour away. So, what I think I'm gonna do is, since my brew pot can comfortably hold about 5lbs of grain, is rock 1.5lb...

So, because I don't have a mash tun, could i make this a partial mash (5.5 gallons) and just mash the corn and rice together in my brew pot and then add lme in place of the 2-row? Something tells me that won't work.

    Cat and Beer....

Lol thanks for the encouragement! It sure is bubbling away. Hopefully the yeast are responsible for the better part of that

    Cat and Beer....

Had my wort chilling in the bathtub and went to check and make sure everything else was ready. When I went back into the bathroom, the damn cat ran out and there was a bit of wort on the side of the tub and floor where he ran off.:mad::mad: F***! Is my beer ruined?

Dry hopping with Palisade (or possibly looking for alternative)

well...I've had a couple really really hoppy ipa's from brew club members, but they were boiling like 2-4 oz and dry hopping with another 2oz. They liked it, as did a few others, but it was way too hoppy for my tastes.

    twist off bottle capping

No worries, I did the same thing on my first brew. Somethin like half of the bottles were twist-offs. Other than looking like they weren't capped evenly, nothin went bad for me. None of them leaked and I was lucky not to have bottle bombs. Beer was indistinguishable from the normal bottled...

Dry hopping with Palisade (or possibly looking for alternative)

If it was me I would throw some cascade in there. .5 to 1 oz should be great! Or you could get all whimsical on it and dump .5oz each of cascade and centennial. Yum!

Our first "Saison", Q for after fermentation -->?

Ya, I wouldn't worry too much about a long secondary, if you want to secondary at all. However, I would let it age a bit before I popped one open. Somethin closer to 4-6 weeks. Only gonna get better by that time.
