DIN mount SSR, anyone using them? Are there benefits?

I'm using 2 wattlow din-a-mites and everything in my box besides the switches and PIDs is mounted on din rails in a 10x14x6 box. It's tight, but the top of my box barely gets warm brewing with 2 5500 watt heaters. In these pics , I ended up replacing the smaller wattlow with another larger one...

    EHERMS water testing

Funny, but I'm going about it the same way. I can have both my heaters going at the same time also, and plan to use my boil kettle for dough in and mash out while using the HLT for recirculation and sparging. I can live with the 2 degree offset, but 6 had me concerned that something wasn't...

    EHERMS water testing

I am using 2 pumps. recirculation of both the HLT and MLT. Im getting consistant readings from the rtd-pids and a thermometer that I can take readings from throughout both kettles. Stratification doesn't seem to be an issue, just a difference between the kettles. I plan to only stir at mash-in...

    EHERMS water testing

So I shortened up my hoses between the pumps and kettles. I had intentionally left them a bit longer then needed as I am still debating pump placement. I also added a drip tube down the side of the MLT and I have managed to get the difference between them to two degrees F. I'm using rtd's in...

    EHERMS water testing

So I've been running water tests on my 20 gal stout tank rig getting ready for it's maiden brew, and the MLT is running a consistant 6 degrees lower then the HLT. I figured there might be some heat loss through the hoses and pumps, but this seems like a fair amount. I'd love to get some input...

HERMS configuration, mashout, and other questions

Ok, so your always using rice hulls. Got it. How much do you use if you don't mind me asking?

HERMS configuration, mashout, and other questions

Just a quick question for you Yooper. When you say your running your 809 wide open, are you recirculating the wort through you hlt coil at this speed? I'm in the water test phase of my build, but I thought grain compaction would become a problem at that rate of flow.

    My eBIAB single-vessel build

Interesting. I didn't think of that. I bought some 3/4 inch barbs, that tubing and have 2 of the same chuggers. I'll let you know how mine works out.

    My eBIAB single-vessel build

Here's a link to some relatively cheap 3/4" id silicon tubing you may be interested in. Good luck with the build. Your Kettle looks like it came from Stout tanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/370613846042?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648

Wroxbrew's 20 gallon stout tank build

Like many here on this forum, I am making the jump from 5 gallon all grain brewing on my stove to something bigger and better. After some months of research here, other forums, and "The Electric Brewery", I've settled on my build and it's under way. I went with Stout tanks for a variety of...

    Stout Tanks & Kettles Questions

I originally wasn't going to get it either. I went back and forth a few times, and someone convinced me I should get it, so I did. I'm still not sure, but I'll see how it works out. I'm working with limited space which you will see. I'm going to start a post of my build. Here's the 4 inch or...

    Stout Tanks & Kettles Questions

Holtbrew, I also have a 20gal fermenter and the shipping from west to east coast was 319.00. I think I was qouted 229.00 without the fermenter. The system I purchased was in stock, so features were set, but my HLT has the site glass and herms coil, and the boil kettle has the site glass and...

    Stout Tanks & Kettles Questions

Sweet. I managed to cram everything into a 14x12x6 I picked up on ebay for 60$ but it was tight. Also, I'm mounting in wall, so no need for all those expensive twist lock connectors.

    Stout Tanks & Kettles Questions

Almost as long as I waited for my Chugger pumps! /jk :) Seriously though, he's a small operation and they are manufactured in China. I don't think he can stock to many. I got lucky and grabbed a 20gal system that was in stock.
