This was my first AG attempt and It went well although there were a couple "hitches" and notes were taken to try to improve the process. This is a Schwarzbier because I LOVE them. :)

9lbs Pilsner Malt
1lb Munich Malt
0.75lb Carafa II
2oz Hallertau 2.4% AA at 60

Just did my first AG and my first 2 lagers in one shot (another extract batch to go with the AG bathc). They really want to fight you on the temp. I have my JC turned down the 45° at the moment and the fermenters are holding 51° pretty steady. :)

You have to build your equipment profile including the plastic cooler mash tun (if that's what you're using). Select the correct mash profile. The brew sheet tells you exactly what to do. Strike temp, batch size and temp too.
What I would do personally is boil 5 gallons of water with a few cups of white vinegar in it for about 15 minutes to clean it. Then you should be good to go!
Regardless of what anyone says, cidery flavors are not from sugar.
You will boost your ABV with adding booster to a HME and DME mix but you will also need about another week or two conditioning time to meld the flavors.

Booster is a separate component altogether. Most recipes from MB do not use the booster, just the LME (multiple cans).
Your American Blond is hopped and is made to give about 10 IBU's to a 2.13 gallon batch NOT BOILED. Who the hell knows what would happen if you boiled it.
