    Bad co2??

It depends on how old you consider old. It used to be possible to get "dirty" CO2 10-15 years ago, but nowadays it's unheard of.

    CO2 prices...

CO2 tanks have a five year test interval, due to the fact that it's a liquid inside of the cylinder and the oxygen molecules in the CO2. There a higher probability of rust accumulation inside of the cylinder, even if it looks perfectly fine on the outside. Given that an aluminum cylinder can't...

How long does a propane tank last?

There's a Tare weight on the collar as well.

Ah. iPad thinking they were all Airgas.

    What are you drinking now?

I'm sampling a few things tonight that I've never had. On the menu: 1. NOLA Brown Ale 2. Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar 3. Sierra Nevada Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale 4. Bulleit Rye Whiskey

For what size cylinder? You may be able to go to the store in Astoria, fill out a credit application and open an account with them. Have your bottle filled at $11. You may be able to negotiate a better price. Regardless, they'll have history of that transaction on your account, and...

Let's Hear It From The Louisiana Brewers

Just brewed my first batch in Livonia (near New Roads, North-West of Baton Rouge). Grew up (and currently work) in Baton Rouge.

    What is the purpose of...

I'm a total noob, but my plan is to transfer to the smaller secondary carboy to free up my six gallon so I can start another batch... I guess if I had done my homework I wouldn't have bought a beginners kit with a secondary carboy.

    CO2 prices...

I pay $0.247 per pound. But I know a guy who knows a guy... EDIT: When you buy this stuff you're primarily paying for the labor for the guy to fill the bottle. Some say exchanges cost more because the company has to maintain inventory, but their filling efficiency is higher. Some say having...

Some lowlife "broke" into my car

The population where I live is around 1,400. Our gun ownership percentages are pretty high as well... no need to lock any doors. :)

How long does a propane tank last?

This is correct. There was a class action lawsuit against them: http://www.stuevesiegel.com/CM/Results/AmeriGasClassActionSettlement.asp Have your tank filled by your local welding supplier. There may be hardware stores that can fill your tank for you, but any welding supply store should...

Converting the Frigidaire 7.2 cu ft Chest Freezer

I did admittedly skip to the end of this thread... I hope to read it thoroughly later when I have more time. BUT... I can't find this freezer anywhere. All of the similar units I've found have big nasty looking temp controllers on the front panel. All of the ones I've found were white as...

    Another Keezer Project

Looks great! Is the purpose of the collar only to have a place to mount the tap without drilling into the freezer?

    NooB

Man ya'll get a lot of newbies here! I'm going to post some noob questions here so as not to create a bunch of stupid threads that are probably redundant. 1. Do we only "bottle condition" beer for carbonation? If I force carbonate in a keg, can I drink my beer sooner? :) If this is so, my...

Naturally carbonate in keg and then bottle.

Have you ever tried force carbonating with a 75/25 nitrogen/co2 "beer gas?" That may be the answer to your problems. Check your local welding supplier... They should be able to blend it for you if they don't carry it.

    NooB

Hi all. I've always wanted to try my hand at brewing, and after watching a documentary on craft brewing (I think it was "Beer Wars" on Netflix) I decided to go ahead and order the two stage Irish Red Ale starter kit from Northern Brewer. I wish I had gotten the Caribou Slober, but I'm...
