    Turkey fryer for brewing

Have a 5 gallon turkey fryer pot that I've used twice for my only 2 batches I've brewed, one in batch in bottles other fermenting. I seen the fryer pot had a few scratches in it and what not, and was wondering if this would harm the beer at all or since it boils in it if the scratches were...

    Fermentation ?

When your brew starts fermenting does it warm up the temp of the brew because of all the activity from the yeast? Was wondering cause my temp has gone up 4 degrees since it started and its in the same room with same temperature. Thanks!

    Help

Thanks for the advice! It was a wheat extract kit. I like the idea of pitching at a cooler temp and then letting it warm up. I also put a black t shirt around the Carboy. Thanks again!

    Help

I have gotten the temp to 67 now and pitch the yeast. I am scared that I messed something up since i didnt get to pitch the yeast until about 15 min after the wort warmed up, or contaminated my beer somehow. my OG was 1.060 and was supposed to be 1.052 according to directions. Is this bad? I...

    Chilling wort

I made an immersion chiller out of a 20' and a 10' piece of 3/8 copper and used a compression fitting to tie the two together. I will add it to the boil 15 min before flameout. Thanks for quick responses

    Chilling wort

O I'm brewing my second batch as we speak and since my first batch I made a wort chiller, was wondering if the chiller alone will cool the wort quick enough? or if I should put the pot in cold water as well? Also can I add the chiller to wort during the last couple minutes of boil? Thanks for...

    Wort Chiller

So the 3/8" copper I got is a 20' piece and a 10' piece I used a compression fitting to tie the two together and put teflon on the compression fitting. Is there anything I should be worried about with this setup? ie: the brass compression fitting, small amount of teflon showing, etc? Just...

    Wort Chiller

Was wondering if using just 1/4" copper tubing would work for a wort chiller? Ive seen most using 3/8", but was able to get a 50ft roll for free, didnt know if anyone else used it or not? thanks for input!

    Bottle Questions

Ok thanks I can live with that. Should I be concerned about the inside of the bottle? I ran my brush through them all and just waitin till they dry on the bottle tree before storing them until bottling day

    Bottle Questions

Thanks for advice. My ol man gave me 4 cases of old Miller Lite bottles (they are even pry off bottles) so I am soaking them in a 12 gallon cooler full of hot water and put 2 full scoops of Oxi Clean in as well. Does this sound about right or did I go overkill with the Oxi or not enough? I am...

    Bottle Questions

So I picked up some Oxy clean powder today because I heard that it gets the labels off of the bottles the best. What should I put the bottles in? In hot or cold water? How many scoops of Oxy clean? Once the labels are off should I clean the bottles with my brush or just sanitize them...
