Plastic like taste with keg lines

I bought it at a brew supply store so I thought it was the right thing.

Plastic like taste with keg lines

Has anyone ever noticed a strange, plastic like taste coming from black vinyl tap lines? I've noticed it now ever since I replaced my tap lines with around 24 feet or so of black vinyl 1/4" tubing. I only notice it with the first pour. If I dump the first ounce or two I don't notice it...

    Steel Stands?

No, doesn't include shipping, that's all seperate, another 500 for the tank and stand. I like your suggestion of just drawing up what I need and taking it somewhere. The other option is to of course just build one myself out of wood instead? Thanks guys

    Steel Stands?

Does anyone on here know anyone that can make powercoated steel stands? I'm looking to have one made for an aquarium actually, and I've been quoted a price by the tank manufacturer that seems way too high to me. I'm wondering what others think... I need a stand that's 40L X 26W X 30H The...

Keg to Keg Transfer using Hop Rocket

Yes, u could replace dry hopping with this method. I did it in addition to dry hopping:). U have to use whole hops with this device. I didnt filter it, but it could be done with a custom cut filter pad. There was some small hop debris the first few pours, but no big deal. Absolutely it can be...

Brew Masters on Discovery w/ Sam Calagione

Thanks for sharing this link! I didn't know it was available to watch anywhere yet. Its a really good episode, probably the best one out of all 6. These shows always inspire me to go out and brew some more beer! I have a bunch of beer that needs to be either bottled or drank, so I have to...

Brew Masters on Discovery w/ Sam Calagione

There are plenty of ridiculously wealthy people living in NYC and that's exactly who they are going after with that restaurant. Can't blame them for tapping in to that market.

Is it Necessary to bake your Plate Chiller

I can testify that there is no good way to be 100% sure that your plate chiller is ever clean. Mine can be flushed a million times after just one batch with PBW, Boiling Water, doesn't matter, there's always crud coming out each time. I usually let PBW sit for a couple of hours, then flush...

    Check out the Bluto555!

Beautiful! Just curious, for the amount of money you likely put into this (assuming it was a lot) couldn't you have built/purchased a much larger system? I'm not critiziing, just curious

1 BBL construction in Costa Rica. Help?

Hey, my wife and I have a couple of friends who are down there doing peace corps work (matt and ann marie?). Anyway, we'll be visiting them sometime in the next few months so if we end up anywhere near your operation I might have to look you up and stop in! I'd love to give you some feedback...

Thanks for sharing. Its nice to know that these smaller carboys can be used in a small fridge like that. Could come in handy someday

Need input on my new electric 1.5 bbl system

He's abslutely right. Its going to take ALOT longer than 45 minutes to get 45gals of wort up to a boil, if you can even get it there at all. I would highly recommend at least 2 5500watt elements.

My E-HERMS Build - LOTS OF PICS

Nice work on the Herms coil. I did the same thing as you, I bought a SS chiller and used it for the coil. I saw all the threads about bending your own and said no to doing it that way.

Big TX Home Brew E-Herms Build Out

Can you share some info and pics on how you built your fermentation chambers? I'm hoping to do something similar in the basement of the house we're moving into in a couple of months!

    Why are controllers so expensive?

Go to The Electric Brewery, spend around 1200 on parts, spend a couple of weeks assembling a control panel as outlined on the website and you'll end up with a bullet proof control panel that will look great and work even better.

Keg to Keg Transfer using Hop Rocket

I sampled some of the beer from the lines as I was cleaning out the Hop Rocket and I can say that its got some very intense aroma and bright flavor. Not grassy at all either. I think this is going to be a good one!

Keg to Keg Transfer using Hop Rocket

I tried a new technique tonight that will hopefully get me a more intense, fresh hop flavor in my IPA. I had a batch of uncarbed IPA in a 5 gallon keg (with a slightly short pick up tube to help leave yeast behind). I cold crashed it for about a week (only because I was busy at work, 3 days...
