    cold brew coffee

Check out the link below in my signature for Mocha Stout... At the bottom of that recipe, I added how my wife (former barista in college) recommends cold brewing coffee. I used ~28 oz of coffee (brewed with 1lb of VERY COARSELY ground coffee) in a 5 gallon batch and it was really good. :tank:

Sanke False Bottom - What's the *$#&#@% secret?!?

I'm going to go with #2 as my main suspect. I'd say that with a compacted grain bed, I would get any flow when I open the MLT outlet valve w/o the hose connected, and it flowed just fine with no hose connected to the pump. I'll check out the connections on my 4 hoses and see how it goes.

Sanke False Bottom - What's the *$#&#@% secret?!?

Yep, had the strike water circulating prior to dough in too. Also have the pumps mounted with the inlets pointing down/outlets pointing up. Probably need to run a couple of tests with each of my hoses and see if I can recreate the issue.

Sanke False Bottom - What's the *$#&#@% secret?!?

Seems like I had a hose that didn't want to fill the inlet to the March pump... I'd already cleared it with compressed air once, and it didn't want to flow directly out of the MLT output (even though the output was flowing fine out of it). I cleared it again with the air compressor and it seems...

Sanke False Bottom - What's the *$#&#@% secret?!?

Yep, I have a ball valve on the outlet of the pump. Right now, I'm just trying to flow anything... I just pumped some water from my HLT through MLT outlet to try to clear it, but then it's not pumping again.

Sanke False Bottom - What's the *$#&#@% secret?!?

Ok, I'm brewing my second batch on my newly built Brutus type scuplture. BOTH batches, I'm having issues circulating my mash. Details: 1) Pump IS primed, it was pumping fine, then just came to a trickle, then nothing. 2) I DO have a hose clamp "pushing" the falsebottom down in the bottom...

    Help in Seattle

There you go, I've been to Larry's as well and he's very helpful and a great resource. Nice to know that he can fulfill welding needs as well!

    Help in Seattle

Thanks! I did all the stand fabrication. However, with my little 120V AC wire fed welder, I didn't feel that I had 1) the skill or 2) the proper equipment to weld the couplings into the kegs. Brewed my first batch on it Thursday after work (Heffe) and it went pretty well. Only...

    Help in Seattle

Yep, the guy's name is James and I think he did a pretty good job on mine. I thought the price was pretty decent too. I'll look around and see if I can find his business card...

    Help in Seattle

Nope, I'm not qualified to do the welding... BUT I just had couplings welded into two keggles the week before last. If you live near downtown or West Seattle, then Weld & Design on Delridge (in West Seattle) works well. That's who I used a couple weeks ago. He got me in and out of there in...

How close to mount electrical box??

Nope, and I picked up some insulation yesterday to put between my HLT burner and my control panel after my initial test run on Sunday showed that it was a bit too close (and subsequently warm). I'd guess that the back left corner of my control box is roughly 8 inches horizontally from my...

Copper Chiller Turned my StarSan Green

    Gotcha. Some good reasoning there.

Copper Chiller Turned my StarSan Green

Why put the IC in sanitizer? When I used an IC, prior to converting to a CFC, I would just plunk the whole (clean) thing in the brew pot for the last few minutes of the boil and let the boiling wort sanitize it.

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Here's my new brewstand! I just ran a water test this afternoon and found out that I need to add some insulation between the HLT burner and my control panel, and also that I need to pull some jets out from the HLT and MLT jet burners (as has been shown by several people here already - just...

    Wiring Problem

Fixed, and working great. Once my kegs get their couplings welded in, I'll be good to go start brewing again. :mug:

    Wiring Problem

That's actually what occurred to me in the shower this morning! Thanks guys, I'll give it some more work and see what I can do. :mug: I did test my 23 jet burners last night, and my thought is just "wow!" :rockin:

    Wiring Problem

So, I got my brewstand all wired up tonight. :rockin: Then, I plug it in, and flip the main power switch. My indicator light lights up. Then I flip a power switch to one of the pumps to see if it works... it doesn't. Neither does the other... The temp controllers have no power either...

    new conical

Be sure to post an update to this... I'm very interested in using one of these for 10 gallon batches once I complete my brewstand build (waiting on my electrical box to wire my panel). I have a pair of 6.5 gallon minibrew conicals and love them, but would prefer not to have to split 10 gallon...

    Nitro Tap...

Is probably the greatest Ebay/homebrewing investment I've made to date!!!! I have Caramel Cream Ale on nitro right now, and... wow. It makes the beer sooo good. Only negative side that I see is that it goes down WAY too easily. Couple that with a stop at the Beveridge Place Pub's...

Naked City Brewing has a location!!!!!

Haha, thanks shmevinator! Don't tell SWMBO! :cross: On a more serious note, he's right, it would also (in addition to the other issues on Aurora) be very noisy. I can't wait for Naked City to open! :ban:
