    Paint for brew stand

Any luck? I'm looking to do this exact thing, burn off the galvanization from my strut stand and coat the top with barbecue paint. It would be comforting to know if this works or not before I attempt this relatively long process.

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Has anyone tried to to coat the top of the strut stand (exposed to the burner heat) in Barb-B-Que paint AFTER burning off the galvanization? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-12-oz-Bar-B-Que-Black-Satin-High-Heat-Spray-Paint-7778830/202315061 If this can work, I would rather...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Thanks gifty74 - this really helps. After looking at my measurements, it would make sense to have the kettles overhang for those very reasons. My 72" length will stay the same and I'll just adjust the middle struts and play around with it. As soon as I start the build, I'll be sure to post...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

I might make the stand 4" taller, allowing me some wiggle room to get a deflector and additional equipment in there and maybe build a storage box for the hosing when not in use. Just pulled the trigger and made the purchase from strutchannelfittings.com and will pick up the strut frames...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Okay... So I spent the last few days reading every post in this thread and I'm hooked. :rockin: 90 pages WOW! I've been in the market for a brew stand for some time and was ready to pull the trigger on a Ruby or Synergy rig until I happened upon this thread. However, I recently invested in...

    Brew Stand Decisions

Thanks jbaysurfer! I am also looking at other threads on hbt that contain a parts list to get a good idea of length and material used. I'm thinking we can go the route of unistrut and assemble it ourselves with angle brackets until I find and call a local welder.

    Brew Stand Decisions

Where can I find measurements and plans for building a brew stand. We're thinking of going down that path but would like some guidance? 2-tier to accommodate 25 gallon 20" diameter kettles

    Disposal of spent grain

I use a 6 gallon bucket with a trash bag lined in it. Pour in the spent grain and drive it over to my sisters house to feed the chickens. It's like crack to them!

    Brew Stand Decisions

I know the advantages of going stainless steel. But it seems like the cost would skyrocket based on 2" ss pricing: http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?pid=2229&step=4&showunits=inches&id=23&top_cat=0 How much material would I need? Most stands that I've seen have lengths of around 72"...

    Brew Stand Decisions

We're in the market to invest anywhere from $1200 - $2000 (maybe a little more if its the right one) for a new Brew Stand! We recently upgraded our equipment to 25 gallon SS kettles and debating to either build or not to build based on our budget. There's so many decisions that go into a brew...

Copper Manifold for Igloo 62-Quart Cooler

I brewed again today with the igloo and copper manifold and it turned out great. Dead Ringer IPA from Northern Brewer. It keeps all but a bit of the grain out of the kettle so I always pour my first runnings into a jug and slowly pour back over the grain bed. I only have to do this once to...

Copper Manifold for Igloo 62-Quart Cooler

This is a great thread that shows the pictures of this Igloo Cooler https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/62-quart-igloo-mlt-questions-265361/

Copper Manifold for Igloo 62-Quart Cooler

First and foremost, this is my first thread and it so happens to be a DIY for a Copper Manifold. This guide should hopefully walk you through the necessary steps to construct a perfectly fitted manifold into the 62-qt Igloo Cooler. I wanted to start all-grain brewing but didn't have the cash...

    Post your infection

Where do I rack it, keg, until drink? I was thinking of racking to keg and then back after I clean out the carboy again. Would that oxidize the beer too much? I auto-siphon carefully! Here's a few more pics, thoughts welcome:

    Post your infection

Super newb question on my first batch of beer. Better safe than sorry. Racked to secondary and these appeared 18 hours later, are these just bubbles? Airlock has a release every 90 seconds or so. American yeast US-05 and 7 days in primary if that helps?

California Common California Common (Anchor Steam Clone) Extract and AG

Just finished a new batch of this, extract style! SG was at 1.048 and keeping it at 68 F, hopefully I'll keep it in the primary for 8-10 days and secondary for 2.5 weeks before keg. Besides a few floaties from SG reading, the beer tastes interesting. We'll see the outcome soon enough and compare...
