Visiting Daytona & Longboat Key in March

I will be in Daytona for bike week 2/28/09 through 3/7/09 then we are headed over to Longboat Key for the following week. We are staying in my camper at the Daytona infield for bike week, then in a condo at Longboat. Can anybody suggest some "need to stop" places? We have been down there a...

Will going to a partial mash get rid of the extract twang?

I switched to PM & full boil at the same time and the beer quality improved quite a bit and got rid of the "twang". I think its from the full boil as much as the PM.

    Brown Ale + Maple Syrup...

Definitely grade B syrup. Darker beers are better for Maple syrup. I have done a mild as well that turned out pretty good. I tried making a lighter beer hoping more maple flavor would come through, but it ended up being really thin with pretty harsh alchohol taste. It worked to get drunk on...

    Any off-grid brewers out there?

As good as alternative energy sounds, you will need to get permits for installation. I had the same problem, $15k to get power company to install. I looked into alternates, getting permits and $. It didnt even compare. Getting a permit for a windmill was almost impossible because people dont...

    Fermenting a Wheat @ 78° ?

I prefer a little bananna & clove, so a little warm is ok. When I have used american wheat yeast (liquid wyeast), I let it go wherever it wants. I did a batch that hit 80deg on the fermometer, so who knows what it was in the center of it all and it was excellent. Still very clean tasting. I...

    Calm My Poison Ivy Woes
