    What are you drinking now?

    Some of my APA.

    Wort chiller question.

15 minutes or less is great. To me, you can't beat $25 or $40 for a DIY 25-50ft wort chiller.

    Opinions on Safale S-05

Hop flavor tends to come from around 20-minute hop additions, apparently. I've made many IPAs with US-05, and I think they came out pretty great. If you're worried about the yeast, it's not too difficult to make a starter and pay a little extra for some liquid yeast. Also, if you're doing AG, a...

Longtime Lurker, but time to get more active

    You, sir, are a prodigy.

    Food pairings?

Hoppy beers go well with almost everything, in my experience. They're not great with super-hot Mexican food, unfortunately.

Does 22 oz. bottles take longer to carb than 12

No problem. Let us know how it turns out! :mug:

    Universal Beer Glass?

If I go to a party, or to taste homebrew/craftbeer, I always take my Sam Adams Perfect Pint. It works well with pretty much any style, IMO.

Nooope. Lol. I've never even heard of this.

    Common Brewing Mishap Checklist

I've got nothing. What's the name?

    What are you drinking now?

Looks kinda dark. Is it actually deep-red in person?

Does 22 oz. bottles take longer to carb than 12

Well, since 12 oz bottles are great after 3 weeks, I'd say give your 22 oz bombers another two weeks. They should be fine by then. Patience is difficult, but it's key.

    Things a Homebrewer Thinks

When I see people throw bottles away in the trash, I'm assured that they're going to hell. Same goes for buckets, refrigerators, tubing, and growlers.

    How do you announce that?

I run into this problem a lot. BMC owns my city. There are only a few bars that serve good-ish to good beer, but I can usually get something that's not bad. Incidentally, due to me being known as a homebrewer, no one ever questions when I say I'd rather drink piss than BMC. Whether that means...

    How do you announce that?

It was a fluid approach. Uncontrollable, really.

    New Hop! Meridian

Fruity pebbles? I'm sold. I'm making a 10 oz-single hop Meridian IPA with a pound of lactose.

Weyermann Cara Red, anyone have experience?

I use it in my imperial red recipe all the time. Not sure if it's this particular malt, but my red is pretty intensely-colored.

Does 22 oz. bottles take longer to carb than 12

You may find some disagreement on this site, and I've never actually ran any tests, but my experience has shown me that, yes--22 oz bottles do, in fact, take a bit longer to carbonate. I usually leave my bottles conditioning/carbing for 3 weeks. At 2 weeks, if I crack one open to have a...

What I did for beer today

Added some finishing touches to my Imperial Red label. It still needs ABV and IBU notes, but I figure I'll add them afterward. It's a crazy recipe, so I'm not sure what'll happen. This will be the first time I make it all-grain.

Substituting Table Sugar for Corn Sugar in an Imperial IPA

It has been my experience (through experimentation) that although cidery flavors are possible using table sugar, an ever-so-slightly higher amount of corn sugar will produce similar off-flavors. In other words, do it--it shouldn't make much of a difference. In fact, through this experiment, I...

A glass of my homebrewed Saison.
