    Perlick Restoration

Rdann nailed it. It was made for 3 - 1/2 barrel kegs. I'm thinking that I'm going to keep it at 3 taps for now. In a perfect world, I'd like to have 1/3 set up for bottles, 1/3 for 3 corny's, and 1/3 for a lagering chamber. I know I'll need to segment off the lagering chamber, and allow it...

    Perlick Restoration

Yup! The tower has standard screws holding the casing of the tower on. I should be able to take that apart. To replace the bottom; I'm thinking a 2x4 brace, with solid foam insulation, then a peice of plywood to rest on.

    Perlick Restoration

Well. I guess I'm going to start kegging my beer. While perusing Craigslist for an old fridge to store bottles/yeast/hops and to lager in, i found this beauty. It's an old Perlick 3 tap keg fridge. It came with all the tap hoses, co2, and kegging lines. It is however, a mess on the...

    getting a sweet sparkling cider?

If you go with non-fermentable sugars, I suggest pure Stevia powder. The stuff like "truvia" have bulking agents that impart a weird off flavors. I used Kal Stevia powder. Now be careful with it, it's 2000x sweeter than sugar. I'm talking super sweet, and we used a little too much. I'd...

    Brewery names--what's your story?

To be honest, if you were here 10 years ago you wouldn't be missing anything. The area has really picked up its craft brew/home brew scene recently. Apparently Arsenal City Brewing passed it's first public opinion test! Now I just need to work on a logo!

    Brewery names--what's your story?

I live in Watervliet NY, and the Watervliet Arsenal is located here. It has continuously produced artillery and ammunition for the US Millitary since 1813. Its a HUGE facillity, and they produce really cool things. They've produced everything from cannonballs to the immense 17" guns on WWII...

    Label/Logo giveaway!

A logo would be fun. Mine would have cannons. Cannons are fun. #28 FTW

    Green Flash IPA?

Yes. This isn't like baking that involves different density factors. Its as simple as Final Ingredient Amount = (Initial Ingredient Amount) * (Current System Size)/(Original Recipe Size) As an Example: Final Ingredient Amount = 14# American Two Row * (13 gallons)/(6 gallons) Final...

    Rooibos Red Ale

Thanks for the feedback! Does anyone think 2 oz of the low acid Kent Goldings will cover up the tea? From iPA, OG = 1.058 @ 70% efficiency FG = 1.015 ABV = 5.9%

    Rooibos Red Ale

My wife is a huge fan of Rooibos tea with some honey. Her birthday is in april, and I'm going to make her a batch of Rooibos Red Ale. For anyone who doesn't know, Rooibos tea is an African red tea, and has a grassy/earthy flavor that can exhibit some spice notes if steeped long enough...

    Just finished my Belgian white.

Be careful if you're going to shake it. It will probably create some positive pressure in the vessel you're fermenting in. I've had some bucket tops start to pop off, which could become very messy. If you're using a ale pail or the like; I think the best way is to remove the airlock...

13 gallons of unintentionally wild Brown, can I use it?.

Congratulations man! So much good can come from a "mistake"! I had a random infection on a 5 gallon pumpkin ale that was in my basement (9/1/2012), and I checked HBT before I dumped it. My pellicle looks the same, and its been in primary for about 4 months now. When I taste it now, the...

    Different E-Brewery

Can you tell me more about your batch sparging method? Heat strike water in HLT Pump to Mash Tun Rest for Mash Time Return to Kettle How many sparge additions do you do? Where do you store additional sparge water? How many runnings do you typically do, and when do you store the runnings...

    Electric system works! Few questions....

Is the boil rigorous right above the element, or are you just getting tiny/small bubbles off of the element itself? If it's rigorous right above the element, that's normal. It's just like boiling on a stovetop. If you have one half of the pot heated by the stove, the "boil" will happen there...

4.5 inches of trub in my wheat beer.

Hahaha. Nice work dingbrew! I had this same problem when I was doing extract, and from a wheat beer. I never wrote a thread, but only due to the fact that by when I found my camera, it had compressed! I hope someone will search this someday and learn from your trials. Isn't that what this is...

Spa Panel Breaker won't Flip to "On"

This is the exact reason I used Auber. I've never heard a single bad word about their support. +1 to them, and good luck to you! Let me know if you need any help setting up the 2352!

Spa Panel Breaker won't Flip to "On"

I believe the PID should have a DC voltage to the SSR if it is firing. Does the green light turn on in the front? The SSR light will only be on if the PID is providing current. Can't help with the extra small amount of current coming from the SSR... That's odd to me.

Spa Panel Breaker won't Flip to "On"

Yeah, If you have an Auber, there should be a light to the left of to the set value (Green Numbers) that will light up if the PID is trying to light the element. I had a problem with having my PID set to "Cooling" mode, instead of "Heating" mode. I read the whole darn manual trying to figure...
