    recirculating BIAB question

Paul, You should be able to find something like that locally. It's just a steaming rack for a kettle. Here, they sell in Sears (Department Store), or any kitchen goods store.

    Tough Day with eBIAB

Yup... More than likely. However, I'm also toying with the idea of using grommets and a drawstring. I think if I put a grommet every few inches, I could make a drawstring that is heavy duty enough to support the bag!

Inagural eBIAB brew day = failure, but why?

I was also thinking of trying something like this: http://www.sears.com/winco-str-18-steamer-rack-17-3-4inch/p-SPM6034459705?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 I have a 19" kettle, but this should allow for me to keep 3" of clearence from the bag to the bottom (and pump...

    Tough Day with eBIAB

Had a beautiful Wilserbrewer made bag, but during a demo i accidentally dryfired the element for a second, and toasted it... I use the "holy" bag, AND a new sheet. You could call it electric brew in a bag in a bag (eBIABIAB). I like the darwstrings of Wilserbrewer's bag. Now I'm using a...

    Tough Day with eBIAB

Oh yeah. Probably should have stated that... The zipties broke in succession (chain fail). I imagine one had a defect, and it was taking the most load. Once it failed, the bag slipped and had too much momentem for the others to hold. The bag fell about 1.5' down into the kettle.

    Tough Day with eBIAB

Well, this is my 5th brew day on my new system... and it was about time something went wrong! Recipe was for an 10 gallon IPA as follows: 22lb US 2row 2lb Carapils 4lb Flaked Rice 2oz Warrior 60min 2oz Cascade 30min 2oz Citra 15min 2oz Citra 5min 1oz Citra 0min Mash: Water Start...

Inagural eBIAB brew day = failure, but why?

I bet Russki hit the nail on the head. I was experiencing cavitation (air bubbles) in my eBIAB brews. Thankfully, due to the ULWD element, I was able to kill the heat before I burned my bag. I could hear the air being sucked into the pump, and figured out that it was from the pump pulling too...

    Albany NY

I much prefer Homebrew Emporium in East Greenbush. beerbrew.com I think the sales staff is more knowledgable, and I think they have higher quality (fresher) ingredients. Last I went to Hennessy, they were breaking down hops from lbs to oz and storing them in ziplock bags in the fridge. I'd...

Arsenal City Brewing - E-BIAB Build

Currently not keeping the bag off the element. I've had no problems with melting the bag or any flavors while mashing... The pump out from kettle is on the bottom, and the two ports on the top are different returns. The QD is the Chiller Return, and the normal return is the Recirculation...

Arsenal City Brewing - E-BIAB Build

Gotcha. I need a plug to disconnect the control panel from the spa panel for it to be an "appliance". I thought that since I had a plug on the input side of the spa panel it would be the same. Either way, I think it will be of use to have that disconnect. I'll spec some things out and run them...

    Best eBIAB pot

I really enjoy my aluminum pot... Just in case youre willing to go outside of SS. I think it was about 100$ with lid and shipped. http://www.instawares.com/precision-80qt-aluminum-stock-pot.wdi-alhp80.0.7.htm?s_cseid=AMZN The walls are 1/4" thick. It feels more solid then most SS pots I've...

Arsenal City Brewing - E-BIAB Build

Its a good call on the outlet/connector. I didn't think I would need it, but it would be very nice to move it out of the way. It's on my list of improvements. Why a 4 prong cord tho? It's a 3 prong cord with an extra 10gauge wire for ground. Besides asthetics, what's the benefit there?

Arsenal City Brewing - E-BIAB Build

And finally, completed system! I've also made some improvements to this... and I'll get some pictures of those later. Please fire away with comments, concerns, or questions!
