    Pimp My Stir Plate

By the way, I don't think I mentioned the mounting earlier. The holes in the fan didn't fit the bolts so I had to drill them out to 1/4". Still plenty of plastic around the holes, so I'm not worried about it holding up.

    Pimp My Stir Plate

OK, it should be up now. I put a pic of the magnet set up and the top without the fan mounted. On the magnets, I secured the outer ones with Gorilla Glue, the middle ones keep each other in place so I didn't mess with glueing them down. Don't you sell these? I might ask for some...

SWMBO's out of town, look for it in a couple of mins. Just me and the brew here...

    Pimp My Stir Plate

1" bar. No problem mixing hot water and DME. I was a little shocked too, but I figured I'd try it since I had never seen anyone mention it. I think it's because the top of the cigar box is very thin and I mounted the fan super close to the top. I used one nylon washer on each bolt as a...

My Stirplate... Cheap and Easy Build...

Great directions! Even a simpleton like me could do it. I even added some personal touches. For a description and pics of my "Cheap and Easy" build go to: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/pimp-my-stir-plate-152513/

Also, for my first starter, I mixed 3/4 cup of XL DME and 3 cups of hot water, stired until dissolved on plate, then boiled for 15 mins. Topped with sanitized foil, chilled in ice bath, pitched yeast and returned to stir plate. Any thoughts on procedure? Thoughts are always appreciated!

    Pimp My Stir Plate

Ok, so I just finished my first stir plate build. I loosely followed the Anthony_Lopez "Cheap and Easy" version. It turned out pretty cool. I swapped out the project box for a cigar box ($2 at the local cigar shop) and nylon bolts/nuts for the regular metal ones. Also, since I didn't have a...

    Taprite 740 Help

Ok, so I'm really slow... I didn't realize the nut that was up against the body of the regulator is for locking the pressure control. I now have control of the regulator and another humbling beer experience. I do wish taprite would post their instruction manuals online...

    Taprite 740 Help

I have a second hand Taprite 740 series primarry dual guage co2 regulator. I didn't notice when I bought it, but the adjustment screw on the front is frozen in place. I plan to pick up some liquid wrench or PB Blaster on the way home to see if I can unstick it with that. Has anyone here had...

    Corny Help

It was still pretty hard. I had the guy at Lowe's put all his weight on it while I worked the wrench. I'm about 6'4'' and still had to put all of my weight behind it to get it to budge. Not sure what they put those on there with, but it was pretty tight.

    Corny Help

OK, thanks for all the help. I took the kegs up to Lowe's and they helped me get the posts off. I also came home with a new wrench for future use. FYI, the required size is 7/8".
