Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

@Morrey Do you think that the starsans blowoff is just a one time thing because it was its first use and kinda had to break in the seal and or valve? Man I sure would be nervous without that PRV on top....but that’s just about the only way to naturally carb to the vol of co2 you would need...

New Conical Selection, Ferment in Hot Garage - Is Jacketed Necessary?

I’m right up the road from you in Austin. I have two 7 gal jacketed unitanks and ferment in my backyard brewery, aka my covered back patio. You can expect a lot of condensation run off for sure, but getting down to whatever temperature you select using the glycol chiller won’t be hard to do...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Thanks! Especially for posting your questions and answers to Ss. So you too are thinking our prvs are adjustable? If so I might be interested on one as being able to carb naturally to a specific vol of co2 would be awesome! For the first time ever(these last two batches) I closed the blowoff...

    Conical fermanator stuck yeast/trub

If you can close off the blowoff valve you can pressurize with co2 the yeast is producing...no need for a trip ;)

    Conical fermanator stuck yeast/trub

If you can pressurize the tank that will solve your problem for sure.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I hear you with the condensation issues while cold crashing. Here in central texas I have the same problem but just deal with it by sopping up with shop towels. On the covers back patio so I don’t care about the water issue as much. On another note, please share your thoughts and pix once you...

    SsBrewtech Sspunding Valve Adjustable PRV

@Morrey This could be the only thing that it could be helpful for. I don’t know a lot about which pressure works best for the yeast type one could be using. Theses no chart for that? I have however read a few articles about fermenting under pressure. Some were positive while others said...

    SsBrewtech Sspunding Valve Adjustable PRV

It is rated for that 2 bar but as says to always leave the factory PRV on the top of the tank that releases pressure at 18 or so PSI. Thus my confusion on why one would want this piece.

    SsBrewtech Sspunding Valve Adjustable PRV

So this looks interesting but I dont understand why I would need this on the unitank if it already has a PRV tc on top that releases at 18psi? What are the advantages of adding this piece? https://www.ssbrewtech.com/products/sspunding-valve Thanks, Czmkid

    Unitank/ CIP cleaning issue

Man I hat to break this to you but every time you gotta tear down the tanks tc fittings. I’m not sure what pump your using but I used a chugger pump at first then Switched to a 1/5hp sump-pump with a full sized cip ball. After the switch I have spotless coils and a shiner inside. Here is...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

How do y’all clean the carb stone for storage between batches? Usually I drop it along with all of the fittings and tc parts in pbw....then rinse in 130 water....then iadaphore it before tank reassemble. While I know this does t clean the pores I always boil it for about ten min and then soak...

    Carbing in a unitank

I let my co2 blow off for a few days then close the blowoff ball valve and let the prv do it’s thing. At 65 this gets me to 1.97 vol co2, which is low for my liking (2.43-2.73) and the style s of beer I make. So then I release the tank pressure in order dump yeast and hops, and use the carb...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

@prosperbrews Sorry just seeing this. With the added outside temps and humidity it would only bring the two tanks down to 38 set at the factory 28 deg setpoint. I dropped that to 25 and it got to35 in the tanks no problemo. I’d say from 65 to 38 on two tanks in about 90 min. You get your...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

@Tozzi Thanks for your initial impressions. Can you tell me more about your lines and insulation around it. It almost looks like one piece! Here is a follow up to my butterfly gasket tear. I contacted Ss and provided photos of the issue on Monday. I hear back from them Tuesday saying that...

Issue with gasket in butterfly valve. Anyone else seeing their gasket tear like this after 8 fermentation’s? Is this user error? I spray with starsans every time before using the valve.

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

You know...Ive never seen how I have the lines attached to my coils. Don’t even know if I’ve hooked them both up the same way. I just started crash cooling both tanks today. Usually drop it to 35 and it gets there. We will see if this happens on my covered patio in TX heat. 91deg here...
