    March Swap ~ EvilTOJ's brews

OK, The Ed's Haus PA was DOA. They both gushed uncontrollably as if infected, SO I never got to taste them. Arrogant Bastid clone: Aroma: Slight hop aroma with a good solid malt nose. I like the way it startes out. 10/12 Appearance: The color is spot on with great clarity. 3/3...

    Sweet Suprise!

OK, A few weeks ago, a small brew pup in Wilmington NC (Front Street Brewery) hosted a Homebrew competition. It is their plan to take the "best in show" winner's recipe and brew it at their establishment. They will then set aside 3-4 kegs to enter in the GABF Pro-am competition with the...

    1968 London ale

    1968 London ale

Sorry for the mis typing. It is 1968 London ESB yeast. I type too fast and never proof read. Anyway, I'm looking a possible backup. My starter sat for a few weeks, before I got a chance to brew, and now it has been 3 days past pitching, and no activity. I'm waiting one more day then...

    Rye IPA partial mash possible?

For the PM version of this I used a 5 gal MLT cooler, and a large Grain bag. The next time, I used the 10 gal cooler MLT, with a stainless braid. I had no issues either time with sparging or efficeincy.

Greetings from the beach of NC

To the addiction. I have to agree that Dave is a good guy. You can also try American Brewmaster in Raleigh, as they have better selections and a great webpage. On a second note to all the eastern NC brewers. Keep an eye out for the Front Street Brewery's home brew contest. Front Street...

Is all grain ALOT better than extract?

I started extract, then steeped, then PM, now AG. All my PM's were good beers. All my extracts had a funny aftertaste. My AG's are great! The extract aftertaste is what made me switch. It just really dissapointed me, every time I brewed. How do the folks who win with extracts get around...

    Sanyo 4912 Kegerator Conversion

Why did you use 2 3/4" as the hole diameter? Why not 1 3/4 or 2"? Just curious. I don't have a 2 3/4 holes saw, and don't want to buy one if I can use one of my smaller ones.

    Sanyo 4912 Kegerator Conversion

Why did you mount the controller on the back? how do you change the temp easily? it look like you would have to move the kegger everytime you wanted to change the setting. Am I missing something?

72% efficiency with a bag? Yes!

Why does a 5 gallon cooler with the brewers bag get less effieceincy than one with a false bottom? Assumeing both are batch sparged.

    beer gun

OK, I have a problem. Every time I try to bottle a few from my keg of pale ale, i get a lot of bubbles in the beer line. It happens when the beer is not flowwing, It looks like air is entering the line some how, and I have eliminated all the possible culprits, and can't figure out what is...

Brewing IPA's with fruit? any suggestions

When I was at the GABF this year I met some brewers from a small brewery in Wisconsin who did an IPA with Mango. IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I am going to try it.

72% efficiency with a bag? Yes!

My first AG was done the same way. I did Dude's Lake Walk Pale Ale in a 5 gallon cooler with a bag and it was the best beer I have made yet. Of course the 55% eff sucked. I am interested in how you managed 72%, cause I would love to get there.
