New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

All my recipes are a variation of the one on page 1. One thing I'm noticing is that the original .75 warrior 60 min hop addition gives more of a "Trilliumlike" bitterness. Using a 4 mil hopshot is less bitter and closer to a Treehouse smoothness.

New England IPA Julius clone (BYO magazine)

I just brewed a julius clone with half us 2 row and half irish ale malt with 1318 yeast. Its my closest clone to date.

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

Used a little bit of info from a few different clones and a recommendation from my LHBS guy for the Irish pale malt. This recipe is fantastic. Try and enjoy Poland springs water and additions: Water Additions to each 5 gallon mash and 5 gallon fly sparge water: CaCl 1 tsp Gypsum 1/2 tsp...

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

I ended up bittering for 60 minutes with .5 oz warrior, and doing 2 oz mosaic/1 oz simcoe/1oz citra/1oz Nelson at 160 degrees whirlpool for 30 minutes Dry hop day 4. 1 mosaic/1 citra/1 simcoe/1 Nelson Dry hop day 11. 2 citra/1 mosaic/1 simcoe. Beer is way too bitter after 4 weeks in the...

New England IPA Julius clone (BYO magazine)

I bottle and don't cold crash. I've used both Conan and 1318 for these recipes. I prefer 1318 but if you are using Conan, I recommend mashing a bit higher. Mid to upper 150's. Conan always seems to finish on the dry side. You can up your grain bill a notch to make up for the lower ABV if...

Brewed this recipe with half us 2 row and half irish ale malt as base grains today.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

My son drank my last Heavy Mettle last weekend. I may move his stuff out to the sidewalk. I wish they made it more often. It's my favorite from Trillium

    Fruit Beer Requiem Raspberry

When I did this recipe I had a mixture of red and black raspberries from my garden. Although I prefer black raspberries over red, and they are exponentially more nutritious, they are a bit tart. I would probably go all red raz or mix in some blackberry next time. I would have made it last...

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

On the 4th day (3/8/17) I double dry hopped 2 oz citra/ 1 oz mosaic/ 1 oz simcoe then the same on 11th day. Bottled on 14th day 3/18/17. This beer is fantastic and at peek right now (almost week 4). Too bad I only have about 12 bottles left from the original 2.5 cases. I'm impatient and start...

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

I'd like to introduce some Nelson hops into the mix. My last batch was: 30 min whirlpool of: 2 oz. citra 2 oz. mosaic 1.0z simcoe Dryop @4th day of: 2 0z. citra 1 oz. mosaic 1 oz. simcoe Same dryhop @ 10th day Which hop additions would you recommend swapping for Nelson? I have 4 oz. on...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I have a bigmouth bubbler with a blowoff tube. I bottle. After the second dry hop addition would it help to suck the air out gently (by mouth) before re- submerging the end in the sanitizer jar?

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

Only bottled 1 week but I'm an impatient bastid. Tried it yesterday. Very good. Looks like orange juice. I still would like to give it a sweeter taste though. I'm think maybe some Nelson next time. Thoughts? Poland Spring water and following separate additions to mash and to sparge CaCl 1...

Just my .02 but I prefer the 1318 much more than the Conan

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I've just been putting a bag around the tube emptying in the bottling bucket. It's been working fine for me. I also went down to .50 oz Warrior for the bittering. My last batch was good but a bit less bitterness would be ideal for me.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I just brewed this again yesterday. My fourth time. I've done conan twice and this is my second time using 1318. I liked my 1st 1318 the best so far. I also raised the mash temp to 155 hoping to get more head and mouthfeel and upped the grain bill a tad. The fermnter is bubbling furiously...

    Dryhopping question

    Dryhopping question

I have a Northeast DIPA in primary. Going to do two dryhops of equal parts citra, galaxy and mosaic at day 5 and 12 and racking on the 14th day. I also have an ounce of denali I want to add. Would I get more bang out of the denali by adding it in the first dryhop or the second?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So I'm going to do my first dry hop tomorrow. I have an oz of Denali that I was going to throw in along with the citra, mosaic, and galaxy. Would I get more impact from the 1 oz of Denali in the first or second dry hop?
