    Beersmith will tell you how much sugar to use. I don't bottle carb anymore but I know it was closer to 4 oz per 5 gallon

    I've been splitting my base malt between US 2 row and irish ale malt. Color is beautiful

    Thats fine. It will take a while to carb unless you force carb first though

    Do you guys think TH may use pilsen malt? Im in the garage whirlpooling a batch and Im drinking a Green as I type this. Ill put the tulip glass down, bring it to my face every few minutes and I get a lager aroma. Could be that the beer is a month old but I definitely am getting that smell.

    LL, Looks great. I'm very happy with how mine has been coming out but Im going to try your boil advice next time. I always keep a roaring boil. I never use whirfloc but I'm going to try 1/4 tablet too. Where are your starting and ending fermentation temps?

    I'm really thinking galaxy instead of simcoe. Just did one basically subbing out the simcoe and I'm getting that pineapply flavor I get in the treehouses. Also thinking of lowering the turbinado %

    Very similar to the way I've been doing it. I use more flaked oats and I use a 5ml hopshot for the bittering. with a second dryhop in the keg at day 11 or 12. I have one ready to keghop tomorrow with galaxy in place of the simcoe. Maybe it will taste like Green :}

    Has anyone harvested yeast from Julius? If so did it make a difference? I have two cans left and am going to try it.

    I totally agree. Kegging is the best option for this beer. Problem is I drink it much faster. My last 5 gallon batch never saw 2 weeks

    Treehouse Style IPA's

    The biggest difference to me between Trillium(I'm posting this as I sit at their taproom), and Treehouse, is the bitterness. Trillium is bitter. They loves their columbus. Treehouse, I believe, bitters with hop extract. Much less bitter. I was able to get a six pack each of green and julius...

    My last few batches. Ive used 4mil hopshot at 60 min and not added anything until 160 degree/half hour whirlpool. 2 dryhop additions the same. No aggressive bitterness. I was planning on adding an oz of galaxy in the closed loop transfer if needed but I dont think the beer is going to last...
