I have been using only flaked oats and wheat about 10% of each i all my batch except the last one where I tried malted oats & wheat. And have not had any haze loss with either. I do say I think I like using malted because it is giving my brew a smoother mouthfeel and is less astringent quicker.

Got my first medal in a home brew comp for my hazy neipa. Thanks all you guys who post and reply on this thread. I have really accelerated my neipa brew learning curve with being able to read and see what everyone shares about brewing this great style.

Thanks I like how it turned out. I was trying the no flaked oats/wheat for this one to see if mouthfeel would change. Got the idea from the Scott Janish book. My Actual grain bill 70% Pilsner 10% malted oats 9% malted wheat 9% carapils 2% honey malt

I don’t think they were stronger, as in not over powering the hop greatness but rather adding another layer equal to the hop flavor. I get the ester flavor first then hop flavor second when drinking it. If that makes sense.

My latest neipa with kvieking. It was the first time using it and I am a big fan. I have been on the A24 wagon for some time but I think this strain puts off more tropical esters. I fermented at 97 and wow this thing turned out great. I used el dog/mosaic/citra in WP and a new grain bill with...

I would look at the female threads of your carb cap before screwing it on the new lid. If there are some rough/sharp spots on the carb cap threads or burs from when the threads were machine cut, that could easily lead to damage on the plastic threads of the lid. Also not seal up air tight even...

What’s the best grain mill for the price?

i use a barley crusher just cause i got it used for $75. When i was looking at the cereal killer it looked like the exact same thing at the barley crusher. THe only diff was that the barley crusher could do a smaller gap.

    Specialty grain crush?

i have been setting my gap to 0.02 inch and it works good

SRJHops - This reminded me of a podcast that was on basic brewing radio they interviewed S. Janis and he said at Sapwood they dry hop at 58*for 2-3 days. I myself have been doing 2-3 at 65-68.

i just soak in PBW, i have not attempted to take the valve apart and deep clean it yet. I prob will in 2-3 more batches, but i do not really see the need for it. It seems like it is a really tight componet and i do not see any crud getting stuck anywhere yet. There is not really any nooks or...

8 days that's crazy. You have any thoughts on the next grain bill i posted using the malted oats/wheat?

Fermzilla 2 Conical 7.1gal- Reviews Wanted

That is pretty much what i did for the first batch i ran through it. Now, since i have not had any leaks i do the following: 1.) Remove/dump trub from jar 2.) Sanitize jar and connection to the fermzilla. Make sure you spray sanitizer to clean threads off on the fermenter they get all caked with...

Love the color Dgallo, it looks neon totally BA!! Man that has a nice head for only tapping it 20 min prior. I am planning the next brew using the Kvieking yeast by imperial. What was you pitch rate and ferment temp schedule? I was thinking of pitching at 150-200 billion. This would be my first...

"Brew703" sounds like a new unit should fix the problem. I have one too but have not had any leaks from the collection cup. I use the cup to dry hop and really like it. I pressurize the collection jar to purge and leak test before adding hops in. I just have been hand tightening as tight as i...
