    OXI Clean

The Wal-Mart brand is called Sun Oxygen Cleaner and when I got it last was 1/5th the cost of oxyclean per ounce. It comes with out fragrance. It works well in other non-beer applications, like getting stains out of your shirt when you spill that stout on it...

    Propane burner to natural gas

I've been doing some research on converting LP grills to natural gas. The size of the drill bit BlindLemonLars used may not be useful information if your gas supply's pressure is not the same. here are a couple of good links: http://www.komar.org/bbq/mm/convert/...

    DIY tap tower?

Just finished moving from Rochester, MN to St. Louis, MO and I have premission from the wife to start gathering parts for a kegerator. I am starting to plan the whole thing out and was wondering how I am going to keep the beer cold in the tap tower...or if it is even necessary? My current...

    Priming sugar in keg?

If you use the priming sugar you'll give the yeast more fuel to make alcohol. just thought I'd throw that in there. I've done both. Only 2 in kegs so far, but one naturally carbed and one forced. It will work either way. I personally like naturally cabonating the kegs because it...

    Copper Manifold Cleaning

I have run 5, 5gal batches through mine. I cut slots with a dremel and get grains inside that are stuck. I soldered only a couple of pieces where T and a 45 then the tube that goes to the outside of the cooler. The rest I like to disassemble and clean...not that you couldn't get it clean...

    OxyClean Rocks

I have read in many places that bleach will cause pitting of stainless steel, but have never read that precarbonate/oxygen cleaners will. Hope you keg is ok.

    OxyClean Rocks

I use oxyclean, the generic sun cleaner stuff, to clean my kegs too. Leave them in over night to soak the insides and then turn them over while they are mostly full into a rubbermaid tub so I can let the top half of the kegs soak over night as well. Have you had a keg get corroded that you...

Cooler Manifold Slot size and spacing

I did the dremel disc method and every 1/4". I marked the 1/2 copper at the halfway point with a permanent pen so I wouldn't cut too far. I've got a 10 gallon drink cooler and with 3-4ft of tube on the end of the ball valve to create a good siphon there is very little wasted liquid at the...

Another Cornelius Keg Question - Gluing Handles back on

I'm not going to spend another dime on glue any time soon. This is kind of a hijack of my own thread but I want to get a chest freezer and I've got 12 kegs to play with, thinkng I'll only use 10 in the freezer at one time and use the other 2 for secondaries. Also thinking how big of a freezer...

Another Cornelius Keg Question - Gluing Handles back on

Update, Gorilla glue didn't do a good job, even when I prepped the surface. I had 6 to use the glue on. My method. I prepped 3 of them really well, used emory cloth to prep the areas to be glued, wiped them and then used a sponge brush to wet them, then used the glue. The other three I...

    My homebrew stirplate

I spent a year in engineering school, so I may be wrong, but from what I remember of physics and centripetal force those fan blades will help to balance out your non-centered, out of balance magnet because they are on a greater radius than that of the magnet. Then there is the KISS principle...

Looking for a place to stay near St. Louis, Chesterfield area

My wife and I are relocating from Rochester, MN to St. Louis. Her position at SLU starts in late June so I started looking for a job. Problem is I found one a little earlier than expected. I'll be starting work on the 14th of April and hope to be down on the 12th. I don't like the idea of...

A Cheap, Lowtech Solution for Milling Grain

Actually, he was so curious about what I was doing that he almost laid down on the grain. Why cats have to lay down on what you are working on I'll never know. When I finally chased him out of the kitchen and finished crushing both batches, about 2 hours later, he had made him self a bed in...

A Cheap, Lowtech Solution for Milling Grain

    I hate HomeDepot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are showing interest in your project, that is a good thing :) Two thing to remember in these situations, a little respect goes a long way and maturity doesn't always come with age. I've found these two things very helpful when dealing with people at the chain hardware stores that turn...

    I hate HomeDepot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm drunk with a purpose...making headspace in the keg to loose some overcarbonation...so take this for what it's worth. Ask an old guy or a young guy, the only thing that will tell you if they are feeding you a line of bull is your own experiences. I'm one of those guys who isn't afraid...

    wood rollers for malt crusher?

See if you can get walnut or pear. When I was in GA I would help on trail days for a local climbing coalition and those two types of trees would take the edge off my chain before I could get through them, they were typically 1' or more in diameter.
