    When to test FG?

Hi, I have another post about a Fat Tire clone I brewed last weekend. I have one quick question, the airlock has stopped bubbling after almost 7 days, should I do a gravity check on it yet or keep the carboy air tight for another week? Thanks, -- Trev

    Question about burners

Checked the pics out and looks great! I learned some things too just from viewing! Thanks for the post and good luck with your batch! :) -- Trev

    Question about burners

I'd love to see a pic of your 55k BTU burner if you would like to post a pic? I'm using a Camp Chef 60k BTU and it is fabulous! Thanks!

ARGH!! My batch might be hosed!!

Thanks for all of the positive responses. I have one final question. I had a bit of over spilling when boiling the wort for 90 minutes and I ended up with only half a 6.5 gallon carboy worth. I pitched the whole vial of WLP051 liquid yeast which contains a net volume of 35 ml. Will this be...

ARGH!! My batch might be hosed!!

OK, I love all of the responses. When I checked the fermenter this morning it was moving around like a wild beast and the airlock was bubbling at about 4 per 3 seconds. I just came home after the "Heaven and Hell" concert to find it subsiding at about 3 burps every 5 - 7 seconds with much less...

    Brewing Vid.

I threw mine in just prior to flame out with my first AG. I think it will be ok though, I hope. My wort seems pretty dark still in the fermenter but then again it's early on and it's a Fat Tire clone. It seems to me that whirlflock tablets are the same thing, is this true? What do you prefer...

    Brew Day 4-21-07

I agree, I was anticipating the same thing! :(

ARGH!! My batch might be hosed!!

Right. What I'm also worried about is that the airlock was not sealed properly for around 16 hours so it was breathing through the neck of the carboy? I now notice a good bubbling in the airlock (now that it's sealed properly) around every three seconds. I did not use a starter I just pitched...

    Brew Day 4-21-07

I'd like to try a Heffe next. What was the recipe you used. Looks like you got some real good fermentation going there too! :) -- Trev

    First AG Batch

LOL! I made a mess too. over boiled the wort a few times, etc.. I added a new thread of the turmoil that unfolded. :) In fact, like your first AG brew day, mine was so hectic I never had the time or chance to take pics. I sure hope this one turns out alright. -- Trev

ARGH!! My batch might be hosed!!

Yep, I planned on staying with the course, but wanted to see what you guys think as a second oppinion. BTW: I updated my recipe, I forgot to mention the hops and the mash and boil time. It definately smells like a good one. :p Thanks, -- Trev

New brewer looking into All grain.

My setup is the cheapest and easiest way to go. Buy two 5 gallon food grade buckets. drill about 100 1/8" holes in the bottom of one to use as your false bottom. Then just stick the bucket with holes in the bottom in another that has a spigot installed and buy a 18" x 24" Nylon filter bag for...

ARGH!! My batch might be hosed!!

Ok, I did my first AG yesterday of a Fat Tire clone. Everything went pretty well until after I bottled the wort into my carboy. When I was installing the airlock I accidentally pushed the rubber stopper to far in that it fell into the glass carboy. I made several furious attempts to remove it...

    First AG Batch

I will be brewing my first AG batch of a Fat Tire clone tomorrow. I've already grown tired of extracts after my first 3 batches. So hence I embark on the journey of AG. Wish me luck and I'll update with pics and progress. I hope my first AG brew will go well, I've done a ton of homework on this...

    New Brew

I now have to fementers going. One is an all liquid extract of a dark red ale and the other is an all liquid malt extract of an IPA. With the red ale I added about an ounce of cascade hops in muslin sack after boiling the water and while adding ME and stirring. I have another week before...

    dopplebock recipe?

Does anyone have a 2 gallon finished recipe for a good dopplebock? I don't have the software to do the conversions. I would like to do a partial for a dopplebock and have a good understanding of ingredients but don't understand how to do the conversions. I am new to brewing and have...

    New Brew

Thanks for the info dude! I just got my next ker fermenter and I plan on doing a "Holwin' Red Ale" Recipe is : Octoberfest's Vienna Lager beer mix and Golden Wheat UME and 1/3 oz Cascade hops. As for "dry hopping" is this just the practice of adding a muslin hop sack to the fermenter...
